DP 10 & iCon Qcon G2 (Control Surface) layout issue

Post by rickindies »

Hi,

Anybody using Qcon G2 (or any iCon product) with DP? I just got mine few days ago. I should say I'm very pleased with the G2 performance & compatibility, but I'm having a little minor issue with the DP layout thing.

I'm a film composer so most my templates are usually pretty large. The issue that I have with QconG2 is whenever I switch my track layout on DP..the G2 doesn't automatically switch their first 8 fader (first page) to whatever DP layout is on the screen. The G2 doesn't respond to DP layout changes.

I've tried with cubase, they also have this thing called visibility agent that basically are track layout in DP. Cubase also using MCU just klike DP, the layout things works well there (also in Pro Tools that are using HUI). The G2 faders always following the layout view from the DAW. If we select say brass layout only..the first 8 faders will automatically show brass track as well, while in DP the unit will always display only the first 8 tracks from our DP session (until we push the next page button of course). Yes I know we can always push the next button until we reach the track we want to select, but if we dealing with 100 tracks its a bit tedious I'd say.

I've talked to Qcon tech support already & they've confirmed that this is the daw issue rather than the hardware issue. They say that when we change the track layout in DP, DP didn't send any data out to the unit..so that's why the unit didn't respon to the DP track layout changes. My question would be is there any way that we can make the DP send data whenever we change our track layout? That way the G2 probably could respond & change their faders accordingly to our DP session layout. Anybody has dealing with this issue before? Or have some suggestions?

It looks promising to me because it has all the different automation modes available, Slate can't change modes from the Raven layout,,,, :banghead:
