Motu 828 mk2/3 - Firewire - ADAT - Pops and stuttering

Post by khybermensch »

Hi all!

I got 5 motu 828 mk2/3 firewire and got a strange problem. It stutters and drops out and I´m on windows 10. If i dont use ADAT port everything works okey, but as soon as I connect ADAT everything goes south.

The setup is:

Daisy Chain via Firewire
1 Motu 828 mk2 - sync internal
2 Motu 828 mk2 - sync slave to card 1
3 Motu 828 mk2 - sync slave to card 1
4 Motu 828 mk2 - sync slave to card 1

Card connected via ADAT
5 Motu 828 mk3 - sync Word Clock to card 1. Both ADAT ports are connected to card 1. Word clock cable is set from card 1 out to card 5 in.

So what am I'm doing wrong?

Kind Regards Khyber

What sample rate are you using? Since you have both ADAT I/O connected, have you tried syncing the mk3 to ADAT rather than word clock? You also might want to turn off the optical ports on the mkII(s) with no optical connections.

Hi!

Yes, tried to set the mk3 to clock sync: ADAT Optical A, but no luck there. And the other optical ports are closed. I'm at 44.1 sample rate.
