NI Komplete Kontrol and DP MIDI automation

Hi Folks, (system below)

So I've finally connected my KK S25 (I believe V1) and sorta have it working but a few questions. I have RTFM'd AND looked at a lot of forum stuff here and at NI. I just need to confirm something.

Got it all set up. Called up a nice sound in Razor. Here's the prob, and I've seen this discussed here but no real answers...

I can record notes, and PB/Mod from the LH sliders AND even cc values when the S25 is in MIDI MODE, but for direct access to labeled parameters on soft synths, while I can adjust them with the knobs, in NI mode I cannot make these knobs write to a MIDI track no matter what (and I do a lot of cc overdubbing here from other surfaces). And I've set all the view filters etc. In NI mode nothing gets to the track as far as recorded parameter automation.

I have: done all the recommended things re: Multi-record, tried various on.off settings with the MIDI menu in KK. Alas no dice.

Also, I don't need this to do transport stuff so I've not tried the Mackie surface setting thing at all in Control Surface Setup.

Now if this is just the way it acts w DP, I have read about those issues and...ah well. But if this can work, somebody lemme know!

If you Google kontakt not saving MIDI automation you get 203,000 results.

Most of the solutions boil down to

MIDI Automation is stored in the nki file. So the way to do this is use "Save As..." from the File Menu and save a new Instrument. Looks like this is the way to save your settings in general.

Hey Mike thanks, but just to be clear...

This is a prob where Komplete Kontrol, regardless of what instrument is loaded into it, will not write knob automation when the S25 is in "NI Mode" (ie: showing instrument specific parameter names under each knob). And since I'm using it as a plug in, not sure what you mean by save as to another instrument.

Also, oddly enough, when I tried the Multi-record solution, the S25 would play MIDI into DP (I saw it!) but won't actually play the instrument it's armed to play. This was both with "KOMPLETE KONTROL" or "Komplete Kontrol DAW" selected as input device. But my Kurz Midiboard and Kronos play it just fine when selected.

DUH! Mike I JUST figured it out!

Serves me right for keeping all my VI's in the RACK. That dog won't hunt.

He is worthy of sainthood for his unwavering aid to the DP community.

Just for future reference... if anybody else has the problem you described....
Could you explain the solution?

Maybe just a quick... I took the NI instruments out of the VRack and that fixed it...
Or whatever it was that solved it for you.
For me, it wasn't clear from your latest post.
