Re: Digital Performer and M1 Macs...
When I used DP10.13 on my Mac Pro (trashcan looking thing) it took almost a minute to load the Garritan Abbey Roads Yamaha CFX Grand piano library.
I think I remember that it had 32 gigs of ram.
With my new Mac Mini (M1) and 16 gigs of ram, and 1TB SSD, the same piano completely loads and is ready to play in 4 seconds.
Also of major note::::::: the piano can be played with a buffer setting of 64 with no issues whatsoever.
Truly amazing so far.
I just finished a full CD project for a singer and DP10.13 hummed right along.
just sayin'

Re: Digital Performer and M1 Macs...
UPDATE 3:
Waves (newly released) version 12.7 fixes the GUI errors in DP 9.52.
Another issue is ...
I, along with other M1 Mac users are experiencing random restarts.
In my case it's "Panics". Troubleshooting is ongoing.

Re: Digital Performer and M1 Macs...
sure, but presumably they would also say that DP9.x doesn’t work?

Re: Digital Performer and M1 Macs...
This is what it says on the MOTU website:
"Digital Performer and Performer Lite (any version) are not yet compatible with macOS Big Sur. Please continue to check this web page for late-breaking information regarding versions of these two MOTU apps that will be compatible with macOS Big Sur."
That would include versions 1 to 10. Since the M1 only runs Big Sur, that would imply you can't run DP on a M1. Note that there might be two stages to the changes, one to get it running on the M1 with Rosetta 2, and the next to get native M1 support.
2018 Mini i7 32G macOS 12.7.6, DP 11.33, Mixbus 10, Logic 10.7.9, Scarlett 18i8, MB Air M2, macOS 14.7.6, DP 11.33, Logic 11

What on earth are you on about? Yes of course MOTU officially say it’s not supported, but multiple people on this thread have said they have DP running on M1 macs through Rosetta 2. My question was specifically in response to one of those people who had dp 9.5 running just fine on M1 mac, to ask if anyone else had DP 10.x running on an M1 mac. Quoting back official MOTU site saying M1/Big sur support is not yet there, which I’m already well aware of, is not relevant, but thanks anyway

Re: Digital Performer and M1 Macs...
You can see clearly in this thread that it's a mixed bag. PhireAlly is reporting all kinds of issues running DP on M1 Macs. Your desire to do so and that some people have with success doesn't in any way shape or form change the fact that to commit to it comes with a risk that's flatly stated by the company that makes the software themselves. It's not a lie that it's unsupported, MOTU found bugs in the Rosetta version on M1 Macs, whether your particular setup will work or not is a crapshoot.arumdevil wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 10:16 ambayswater wrote: ↑Wed Mar 10, 2021 12:00 pmThis is what it says on the MOTU website:

Basically you can't really be upset at people who would rather warn against running software flatly not supported by the company that makes it. This isn't Mac Rumors etc. I understand your excitement and all, but there's no reason to be upset at people who want to make it clear that what we're talking about is officially unsupported.
M2 Studio Ultra, RME Babyface FS, Slate Raven Mti2, NI SL88 MKII, Linnstrument, MPC Live II, Launchpad MK3. Hundreds of plug ins.
Re: Digital Performer and M1 Macs...
MOTU didn't say it's "not supported". They said it's "Not Compatible". That means you can't rely on it working, and won't be able to until they make the necessary changes. You might be able to launch it and might be able to use some functions. But you risk crashes, corrupted project files, etc. They're telling you not to use it. But again, what would they know?
