MIDI Woes

Post by stalfo »

Hello,

n00b here.

I'm having trouble getting my MIDI to work.

I just installed DP and when I start it up I get a window titled "Remap MIDI Devices" which says:

"Some MIDI assignments could not be found in the current MIDI configuration. Make sure that these substitutions are correct."

Then it asks me to change the Old Assignment from Network to IAC Driver as a New Assignment.

When I do that It tells me:

"Some tracks cannot be record-enabled.
Record-enabling these tracks would create a MIDI playback loop."

If it helps, I'm using a 2019 MackBook Pro with Catalina version 10.15.7

Any ideas about what I should do? Any help you can provide this poor perplexed n00b would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like you need to visit the MIDI pane of Audio MIDI Setup in your Mac (Utilities Folder) and get your studio's MIDI I/O in order.

Perhaps you should have a look at the Getting Started manual for DP and get your MIDI devices set up, and then refer to the section in the manual on Bundles. Bundles make the connection between MIDI inside DP with MIDI devices connected to your computer. IAC is an internal virtual MIDI device, and from what you said, it looks like this is the only MIDI device DP can find with the current setup.

Yea, there are times (with Mac) where everything is connected, nothing has changed, but I need to open Audio MIDI Setup and just "make nice" with all the gear. Make sure it's all wired & rescanned. Go back to DP and suddenly everything is working, and DP just gives me that look like, "Is there a problem?". ... so smug.
