At a venue I work, we just had a new sound system delivered today.
On the order, we also had an Ultralite MK3 (hybrid.) We unpacked it and gave it a try connected to my laptop (through USB.)
Playing some music, I heard some jitter. Pausing the music, I'd hear some high-pitched ticking noises. When I would should down the software, the noises would go away.
Tried both Winamp and VLC for playback (yes, I'm oldskool!) same results.
Tried both the master out and analogue 1-2, same results.
Monday we'll continue some further testing, but I've never had such issues with my laptop. Nor in the past with my own Motu 828mk3 (although I've never connected it to my current laptop, because it doesn't have Firewire.)
I'm guessing it's an issue with the specific Ultralite drivers, but I'd appreciate any of your ideas/comments.

Re: Ultralite MK3 jitter and ticking noises
Well, I'm still fairly sure it's a driver issue.
I double checked that at least I'm using the correct download links for the right device. It's definitely a Rev3. But then again: the download links mention that it's installing "MOTU Audio Installer" so it seems a one-size-fits-all installer for Motu hardware.
I've tried the v4.0.6.6814 (Release Date 2015-10-28) and v4.0.5.9644 (Release Date 2014-01-03) and both have the same chirp issue. Less jitter though on the 4.0.5 but still no success.
Even tried v4.0.5.5333 (Release Date 2012-09-11), but after 2 minutes of playback, it would simply go into a panick mode sending nothing but a high-pitched noise (including on outputs that I'm not actually using.) Nothing connected but USB and 2 output connectors (and power, obviously.)

Re: Ultralite MK3 jitter and ticking noises
Hello there,
Same problem here.
Had no issue until I got a nice upgrade to have a better flow in my Digital Performer's Orchestral Template (more that 7 Kontakt instances with more than 70 VSTs). So I got a Ryzen 3600X working at 4200MHz OC, 65GB 3600MHz DDR3 and of course an RTX3070 because.. why not?
The DP was flowing gently.. but the rest of the world went bananas.
Jitters, frame-drops, crashes, volcanoes, locusts and raining frogs.
One whole week "2 tech geeks" trying to solve and still no actual solution..
New drivers, roll back drivers, old/new firmwares, different 28AWGX2C USB cables and ports, DPC Latency checking "ok", double checks, benchmarks, voodoo.. nothing
On top of that DP started jittering too!
.. a nightmare!
BUT there was a spot of light!
We found at least that removing nVidia Drivers it WORKED!
No Jitters, no frame drops no nothing!
We believe there is a problem regarding the graphics interface.
Either hardware or driver conflict.
So I changed my GPU to my old one. It worked fine.
Before sending my new RTX back I tried another 3070 RTX (different model). Jitters again!
So the problem is clearly (well 99.9%) a drivers thing.
I thought keeping the windows graphics drivers if I didn't work with my 3 monitors and occationaly video edit.
I believe MOTU and nVidia need to have a serious chat......
Until then I am looking for a new interface to keep working...
.. I am between Focusrite 2i2 3rd gen, Audient iD14 and maaaaaybe M2.. but veeeery reluntant due to my experience with Ultralite
(I welcome any sugestions)

Re: Ultralite MK3 jitter and ticking noises
Same problems. Windows 10 20H2 Fresh install.
System is Ryzen 5900x, mobo Gigabyte b559m-ds3h, ram 32gb Ballistix 3600mhz, gpu GT 710, interface Is MOTU Track 16.
Initial suspect was that old GT 710,. Checked basic buffer/sample rate stuff on both Windows and interface, tried many drivers (video, chipset, everything), windows tweaks, voodoo. Still ticking noises AND varying pitch during playback.
Same ticking noises on a friends system that has same mobo, ram, a 5600x and a RTX 2060. That made me realize that maybe that GT710 was not the problem after all. Both computers have the latest Win10 20H2 build.
I'vee been using the interface on a Notebook for a couple of years with no hiccups or anything (i7 7700HQ). Windows version on that system is Win10 1909.
Couple of hours ago i reinstalled Windows, this time using a bootable USB drive with that 1909 version. Installed interface... So far it works just fine. I know the Track 16 Is an old model, but to change interface because of some software compatibility issues Is not on my plans.
Hope this helps. Will report back if the ticking noises reapear.
Update:. Nope... Issue remains.

Try forcing PCIe 4.0 to 3.0. it may solve the issue
