Just updated to 10.13, and its bugs
I’ve been on 10.01 for a while. I finally upgraded yesterday, it’s good to see so many bugs fixed but there are some new ones too. Anyone have any workaround advice for these?
A) After deleting all of a plugin parameter’s automation from a lane in the SE, the lane isn’t removed. DP leaves behind an empty lane. Before 10.01 the lane would disappear on its own. In 10.01 it got buggy, you could cycle through exactly 3 other lanes and the unused lane would then disappear. Now I can’t get it to leave at all and it’s clutter-y. Is there a way?
B) This seems to be happening only sometimes but it’s on a move I pull a lot so it’s getting in my way. Let’s say I wanted to copy some automation data from one track to another. What’s merged into the destination track contains more points and doesn’t retain the value of the original points copied. It almost seems now like DP is trying to place the merged dots to work in accordance with what’s already on the destination track, which might be nice I guess, but the values don’t match so it’s kind of a fail. It also gets the data’s rhythm wrong. I’ve only had a couple of busy days with 10.13 so I’m still learning the exact ways this bug surfaces.
C) Prior to 10.13, holding option in the SE would allow zoom. It’s been this way for like what, 20 years, at least? Now I have to hold the Z key. It’s a different finger, so now it’s distracting and slower. I know I’ll get used to it in time but I do want the old way back! Is there a way?
Thanks for any help!!

A) You can "Hide Lanes" in the area where you select the layer the main waveform lane (volume, pitch, etc) select Hide Lanes. (I think I have the terminology correct...)rawrooo wrote: ↑Wed Dec 30, 2020 7:00 am I’ve been on 10.01 for a while. B) Have you tried first deleting the existing data in the area to which the new data is to be copied? Anyone? Anyone? Ferris?
C) Have you looked into "Commands"?
Re: Just updated to 10.13, and its bugs
You did have the terminology correct, but I did not haha. I didn't mean lane but I meant the pulldown that lets you choose which data to edit without adding a lane. The same pulldown you were referring to but not the += that opens the lanes.
FWIW I just tested this again and it wasn't happening. I'll update if it comes back.
If I'm understanding the suggestion, that wouldn't work since id then have no audio in the track to automate. I'm usually trying to merge data into the destination track.B) Have you tried first deleting the existing data in the area to which the new data is to be copied? Anyone? Anyone? Ferris?
The way I use this is, let's say in some part of a song i want to bring up the snare while bringing down the overheads. I'll first pencil in the automation dots on the snare track, then copy those dots to the overheads track, click on the appropriate dots and use Change Continuous Data to bring them down. This way I get nice clean sounding automation moves since things are moving together. I do this A LOT when I mix. It's not the only way to automate ofc but I find it a usefully quick and easy way to get tracks moving together.
Sure but unfortunately the option key on its own cant be assigned in that way, unless there's something im missingC) Have you looked into "Commands"?

Re: Just updated to 10.13, and its bugs
Not a bug. This behavior was changed in DP10.0. It totally messed me up too. Before they changed it I could zoom with one hand using a mouse that had an Option-Click button. I did this operation many times a minute sometimes. It's been a major PIA to adjust to...I'm still not used to itC) Prior to 10.13, holding option in the SE would allow zoom. Are you sure these others aren't 10.0 issues as well? ...I get the ghost-lanes too, but can't remember it ever not behaving this way.

Oh man I did that for years too! Same exact option click move. Eventually it got messy when changing mice all the time and I got used to a normal left click, but yeah that was sooooo useful back then.dix wrote: ↑Wed Dec 30, 2020 12:34 pmNot a bug. I'm aware the new zoom behavior is intended as a feature yes.
Re: Just updated to 10.13, and its bugs
Also does anyone know if there is a way to make all MIDI tracks default to "Auto Zoom Track"?
Great new feature, it'd be great if it could ALWAYS behave that way as a preference, toggled by a keystroke. As opposed to something that has to be repeatedly turned back on.

Re: Just updated to 10.13, and its bugs
As a lefty, my mouse options are limited. I've yet to find a mouse that allows me to work like this (as I used to) with DP10's zoom-tool behavior change. Conceivably, a mouse with a 4th button that could be assigned to a letter, rather than a modifier, would work.rawrooo wrote: ↑Wed Dec 30, 2020 1:04 pmOh man I did that for years too! Re: Just updated to 10.13, and its bugs
Leftedness is not well supported by many. I gave up on zooming with a mouse and got used to using the touch pad pinch when preset command short cuts don't work for what is needed. The keyboard on the right and touch pad on the left does just about everything and the mouse doesn't get out much any more.dix wrote: ↑Wed Dec 30, 2020 1:41 pmAs a lefty, my mouse options are limited. Re: Just updated to 10.13, and its bugs
The zoom behavior caught me off guard as well and I'm a also a lefty. My solution was assigning zoom to the "z" and "/" keys which are not so far from where the option move used to be.

Re: Just updated to 10.13, and its bugs
Thanks, but I’ve done the research. Me and touchpads do not get along. I have mine relegated to a place just above my keyboard currently, where it sees some action (yes, zooming mostly), but I’m still more productive with an old fashion mouse....The zoom-tool zoom is different than trackpad pinch-zoom - the tool pops you into the selected range, while the pinch zooms you into the curser’s position. A minuscule diff I know but enough of one that makes the zoom tool preferable for me.The keyboard on the right and touch pad on the left does just about everything and the mouse doesn't get out much any more.
[...apologies for hijacking your thread a bit rawroo, but this stuff is at least semi relevant]

Re: Just updated to 10.13, and its bugs
I have ”z” assigned too, but it’s no help for the one handed zoom-tool maneuver....not a lefty thing of course. I was just lamenting the lack of mouse options.

Got it. You’ve inspired me to get back into some expert mouse trackball programming.

Re: Just updated to 10.13, and its bugs
OP here
I'm also discovering that the mixer window bug is still present. The bug I'm referring to is, if I close the Mixer window (I use the consolidated window for some things but it suits my workflow better to have the mixer in its own window), then when reopening the mixer it fills the entire screen.
This was one of the first things I tested when I updated DP and it seemed to be fixed but it just surfaced again. It could be due to the file I'm working on, it was started in an earlier version of DP. I didn't do the "load the chunks into a "native" DP 10.13 file" thing, so it may be retaining the bug for this reason.
