Performance Issues

Post by gravity »

Hi folks

I'm struggling to get any kind of performance whilst trying to record audio tracks with a buffer of under 256. I often record live events and would love to use DP but can't get the buffer low enough to make it feasible. One thing that stangely does seem to help is if I instantiate a virtual instrument before recording audio. This often drops the readout on the performance meter by fifty percent or more. Weird eh?

Hope this makes some sense Brian

Yes, Weird.

256 isn't the end of the world but I'm able to record at 128 over Catalina on a very slow 2012 MacBook Pro and 32 on my iMac Pro.

We need more info: How many simultaneous tracks? Any plugins active during tracking?

I'm wondering why one would need to use a small buffer while recording live events... in your situation are performers and/or audience members going to be hearing the throughput?

Unless DP is actually a part of the performance, buffer shouldn't matter.
