Don't want DP to change the speed of import

Post by rosindabow »

Hi,
I'm importing a tune into an empty project. The project is at 48K 24 bit and the tune is your standard 16bit 44.1K. When I drag it in DP is doing some automatic conversion and the pitch is remaining true but the tempo is slowed way down. I'm hoping that it is something simple that I need to check to tell DP to convert it from 44.1k to 48k but leave the tempo alone. I have the tempo set to a standard 120bpm and have tried turning off the conductor track before I imported it but that did not help. I turned off automatic conversions as well - no change. I am just trying to import a tune - first I tried a .wav file then I converted it to an mp3 before import - no change. It worked for a second but then stopped. It plays just fine in the soundbites window but not in the track. I have cleared the soundbite tempo over and over again, no change. Any ideas? Thanks.

After speaking with MOTU, the fix is this. Go to Preferences and select Pitch and Stretch. Turn OFF both the "Default options for tracks in new projects" and "Default options for tracks in current project." Import your file again - all is well. Whenever you import audio, make sure those preferences are turned off. It's confusing as they have nothing to do with working with Pitch and Stretch once the track is in your project. Hope this helps.
