Motu Core 24 i/o with Mac Mini 2012

Post by joni_be_good »

Hello
I work in a recording studio where we use the Motu Core 24 i/o
https://www.backline.it/sites/all/theme ... CO24IP.jpg

We've been wanting to upgrade our studio computer from a Windows based PC to a 2012 Mac Mini, but we've been having difficulty figuring out how to connect the Motu to the Mac Mini, since the Motu connects through a PCI 424, but the Mac Mini does not have a PCI slot.

The Mac Mini does have a FireWire 800 port as well as a Thunderbolt and 4 USB 3 ports. (Attaching an image of the Mac Mini 2012 ports)

I've been very frustrated with this issue and I would greatly appreciate someone could help me find a solution.

It can't be done. Too many threads going back to 2013 if you want to read all about it. At least one goes back to last week.

You can pick up a used Mac Pro 5.1. Plenty of threads about how to hot-rod one of those.

Otherwise, the MOTU 324/424 is ancient history.

Somebody posted the big blurb about Audiowire to him over at Gearslutz earlier.

Worth pointing out to the OP that if he / she were to get a 5.1 tower, the PCI system won't work beyond Mojave.
