Accessing images

Post by Rick Averill »

I have tried in some of my posts to include links to images that I've uploaded to Google photos, but invariably they can't be accessed by other members. Does anyone have any idea why this is? Do I need to use another hosting site? Is there perhaps something about my Google account or the images that makes them private? I would be appreciative of any help you kind folks can give me.

We don't have permission to access your GooglePhotos.

Have you tried enclosing the image link? Click on img in the toolbar. It should bring up some simple html that will not display if I paste it. Paste your image link between the inner brackets and Save.

It must be the actual link for each image, no folders or groups. If that still doesn't work, you've not granted permissions for these links to be shared.

If it is an image on a website, control click and COPY IMAGE ADDRESS. Then in your text box here at MN, hit ctl-opt p (for PICTURE) or select img from the list of format options. Paste the link (xxx) into the brackets as follows: Image

If you hit preview, you should see the image. Often they are too small or too big so you might have to hunt for another.

I have a website (or two) and host my own images most of the time. But it's often easy to find an image online that can serve the purpose.

For you own images, they have to be uploaded to a server somewhere. As mentioned above, your Google drive stuff is not going to work. For this image, I googled a question. Selected IMAGES for the Google search. Found one I liked. Clicked on it. It took me to a website with the image. I control clicked on that image and copied the image address. Then I pasted it (as described above). Hope that is somewhat helpful.
