Help Recording CC data for assigned CC

Post by johnga »

Hello,

I am having problems recording CC data - that has been assigned via the MIDI Learn mode. If I record a track and the CC knob has not been assigned, it records perfectly. However, after I assign it to a software synth parameter such as the Filter Freq, I can no longer record the incoming CC value. The hardware will change the value of the synth parameter, but that is not recorded.

What am I missing here?

Thanks for your help.

John

Well, I have learned that I am creating a custom console when I am using the MIDI learn button on the bottom corner of a AU synth plug-in. I still don't understand how to record the MIDI from my hardware controller (that goes to that parameter in the software synth plug-in.) TFM (as in RTFM) says that the console window just needs to be on top to be able to record into it. So far that does not seem to work.

Any ideas?

Also, how does one then edit this MIDI?

Thank you for your help.

Instead of using the MIDI learn button, try r-clicking the synth parameter and see if that works.

Thanks for the suggestion.

That does work perfectly for a synth that has MIDI learn built into it. And that is the way to go for such a synth.

However, I am looking for a synth that does not offer MIDI learn for all of its parameters. In this case, I am using Madrona Labs Alto.
