PCI-324 / 2408 I/O error (resolved)

this system was working fine but unfortunately i've been doing a bit of reconfiguring in the system and this has crept in.. basically before this happens it will work for awhile but i can here little random digital glitches.. they are not int the recording they are in the live playback..

I've tried a few different firewire cables and none of them seem to make a difference. i was having some issues too with different PCI-324 card ports even syncing up with either of my 2408mk2 units.

My fear is maybe the PCI-324 card is bad, but hoping its something else for sure.. I tried to google the error message but it didn't come back with anything.

I'm seeing about finding a replacement PCI-324 now.. i find it hard to believe that both of my 2408mk2's are acting up with the same PCI-324 card..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pLHJioHfB0. this is a video of the problem. this is the kind of sound it makes. OS9 sounds a little less pronoused but absolutely glitches randomly like this.

I found a PCi-324 for $63 with shipping that is tested. I found some that were around $40 but they were as-is which very easily is "i know it doesn't work but will list it as "untested" and play dumb..

Hope it gets here soon! I'm banking on this fixing the issue. If it doesn't i'll be stumped.

So I got a replacement card and did some further testing with both the new and old card.. it turns out for whatever reason moving the cards around fixed it. first of all i tested the new card in the SAME SLOT as the old one and the exact same digital clipping occured.. so then i pulled all cards out and got my Sawtooth G4 back online with OSX Leopard.. Tested both cards with both 2408's and all is well.

Hindsight 20/20 I could have probably fixed it without the new card, but the price was good and i was actually looking to sell both of my 2408's and each having a 324 card should help it be a more complete package.

So i'm not sure if the PCI slot is bad or if something was just shorting in that particular slot.

I now have a MOTU 828 Mk1 (firewire) which is what i intend to replace the other system with (so i can get a PCI slot back for SCSI card)
