Event Chasing

Post by mmestek »

Event chasing for volume on the mixer does not work when using the Korg M1 VI, but it does work for the Polysynth VI include with DP. I have event chasing enabled for all controllers. Is there another setting that I'm missing? Thanks.

I just tried it and it wasn't working. I toggled the automation indicator in the mixer, played back, then toggled it back and it started working on the M1 and the WStation.

I just now tried toggling the automation indicator in the mixer and it still doesn't work for me. Before I upgraded to 10.1 it was working intermitently, but now it doesn't work at all. I downloaded the new Korg Triton VI demo and that unfortunately doesn't work either. Bummer cause I've been waiting 20 years for the Triton VI and now I can even use it with DP.

In the KorgM1 vi's global settings, I have Control Change Filter unchecked. If I have it checked, I cannot adjust the volume in the mixer.

Is there a way to insert some kind of MIDI monitoring between the MIDI track output and the VI input, so you can see what DP is transmitting (and possibly what the VI is ignoring)?

I don't know if there's an AU or VST that would both display MIDI data and then pass it thru.

Or perhaps it could get recorded onto another MIDI track and viewed in the event list?

I'm also having trouble with the Korg VI in DP 10.1.

In my case, a Wavestation track just stopped playing back.
All data was there and nothing was changed AFA outputs or muting, etc.
I could play the patch from a controller with the track record enabled, but the recorded MIDI data refused to play.

My quick solution was to create a similar track and drag the data to it.
The new track is working fine, but I'm wondering what happened.

Gotta have those wonderful Korg instruments!
All is well

I was able to get controllers to work but all I did was check and uncheck the previously mentioned items. Please at least try toggling the global filter on and off. I think that’s when it responded.

That's a good idea and I'm working on recording some MIDI from the M1 VI. Thank you for your reply.

I was able to get the Korg M1 VI to chase the volume set on the mixer by doing these two things:

1) I created a 2nd MIDI track on the M1 VI and put it in record mode.
2) I set the MIDI Patch Thru to either Direct Echo or Auto Channelize.

This is not a viable solution on an ongoing basis, but it does show that the MIDI Patch Thru and recording mode are involved. Hopefully this additional information will help.

Upgrading to 10.11 did not fix the problem of Korg VIs not chasing volume setting in the mixer. One thing I did notice is that if I put the MIDI channel that's being played by the Korg VI in record mode, then the volume chasing works. Go figure.
