Waves plugins crashing DP 10.1

Post by conleycd »

I have an unfortunate problem - wondering if others do too. I've support requests in for both Waves and Motu (although I see I still have support links open from MOTU from 2014.... so... maybe not holding my breath).

Each time I close most Waves plug in dialog boxes in DP it crashes. The L3 limiter crashes, the CLA73 crashes, trying to add the C4 plugin crashes. Is anyone else having this? I'm on the most recent version of Mojave (10.14.6), most recent Waves update, and most recent DP installation. Is anyone else able to replicate?

Just tested the Waves plugins you mentioned.
In my DP 10.1 setup they all work well.
I'm still running Mac Os 10.13.6, so that might be a difference.

I was able to launch all of the plugins you mentioned and do a few adjustments.
I couldn't find CLA73, but I tried CLA76 and it worked fine.

I was able to close the dialog boxes and re-open them with no crashing.

So far Waves plugs are behaving well for me in DP 10.1
So sorry to hear of your situation.
Seems every system has unique parameters.
Wishing you a fast solution.
All is well

Yes I meant to say CLA-76 not 73...

So... I have taken to reinstalling DP, reinstalling Waves, deleting plists etc yet the problem remains.

Here's a little clip of it crashing with VEQ.

I have removed that plugin and put it back in (the same slot) same behavior. I used the Manny Marroquin eq as a substitute... same behavior.

Very much sucks.

I have a different set of Waves plugins, various vintages from V9 and 10. I've tried out a few and no crashes resulted. I only use the AU versions, not the VSTs. It might help if you can look at the crash logs and identify specific processes that are involved.

First, I notice I need to update my tag line?!!?

I think I have isolated the problem. MacOS 10.14.6 (18G2022). So with DP 10.1 and Waves 10 plugins closing the plugins dialog always crashes my system. Waves version 11 plugins do not crash.

Is anyone else on a similar system to confirm?

conleycd,

I’m having the same problem. Digital Performer 10.1, Mac OS Mojave. Older Waves plug-ins (Version 9 VEQ and Kramer Master Tape) crash when closing. Version 11 plugins work fine. Were you ever able to resolve the issue on your end?

Thanks.

Same! Old Waves plugins often crash DP.

What does OSX’s Console say happened at the time of crashing??

Look for anything related to DP in there.

Also, what screen monitors are you using and how are they connected to the computer??
If you have Live, does it open normally??

Waves was the source of many problems on my system. I had to not only remove all the Waves plugs but did an entire clean install for the ground up. that was about 10 years ago and ever since there haven't been any serious issues.

I know, the plugs look cool and a lot of people use them. Good luck with that!

Does Waves support the combination of DP and Waves versions in question? I've had some problems but they were cleared up with their support site. The initial question gets a "turn it off and turn it on again" response. But once you do that, you get passed on to someone who can fix problems. The fix will likely involved getting new downloads, by version, of all the waves plugins, authorizations, and installers, and then running these in a specific order. It seems to happen to me whenever I add or change some Waves element.

I've used Waves Ren since V3 and added a few more since then. From time to time I've tried to find alternatives that click in place the same way, but that hasn't happened.

All Waves plugs working well here.
No crashes.

Probably obvious, but update the Waves plugs to the version that works with your current OS.
Unfair to criticize outdated installs for not working in the latest Mac OS.
V11 is working.
Call them and they will help you excise prior versions etc.
I was blown away by the excellent tech support.
