DP 10.1 out
Just checked MOTU's web site and discovered the new update DP101(83521)
Has anyone installed it? I may try this weekend

Re: DP 10.1 out
I believe you're the first to post! The Read Me is massive! Lotsa new stuff. Including:
Larger MIDI data icons
• MIDI note velocity, controller, pitch bend and other data types are now larger and easier to click on in the MIDI editor and the Sequence editor.
• Note velocities now appear with a trailing line corresponding to the note duration.
Velocity tool
• Edit note velocities directly in the piano roll with the new velocity tool. The velocity tool also provides an easier way to edit velocities in the continuous data editor, modifying any number of notes at once with a single gesture.
Retrospective MIDI Record
• Digital Performer is always capturing MIDI input, even when the main transport is not recording.....
...and a ton more. Including speed and performance enhancements (yes, snappiness!) and what might be the longest bug-fix list I've ever seen for DP

Re: DP 10.1 out
Just installed.
Seems good. Note that all DP plugins are now part of the app. It's huge 1.7G, as opposed to previous versions. They changed zoom to the z key. But that maybe configureable. Still testing.

"• Fixed a bug where monophonic aftertouch would not be sent to MIDI destinations during playback."
I can't remember for who all this was a DP10 deal-breaker, but it's apparently now fixed.

Re: DP 10.1 out
File format has changed and is NOT backwards compatible. Be sure to “Save As...” for new files going forward.

Re: DP 10.1 out
The ability to revert to a previous version is always imperative at these moments.
Before installing, I’m curious if installing DP 10.1 messes with DP10’s installation. Specifically, the audio export options....among other things.

Re: DP 10.1 out
I was told it can co-exist on the same system as a previous version just fine.dix wrote:The ability to revert to a previous version is always imperative at these moments.

Re: DP 10.1 out
Easy enough for you or someone to check the export option if you have time. After installing 10.1, open 10 and try exporting a soundbite. If the dialogue only offers a few generic export options, and no Quicktime, L.A.M.E etc, then 10.1 has absconded with them. This makes reverting difficult. I'm hoping the new "All MOTU-supplied plugins and data bundles are now contained within Digital Performer's application bundle...' protects them.
There's a way one can protect the export options, if this is not the case, but I don't recall offhand how it's done. It's a PIA

"Digital Performer is always capturing MIDI input, even when the main transport is not recording."
As I recall, Hybrid Arts SMPTE Track used to do this.

Re: DP 10.1 out
Because I have no self-control I went ahead and updated to DP 10.1 . While I'm happy to report that the export options, mentioned above are still available in 10.01, I'm extremely sorry to report that none of my MOTU plugins are available in DP10.01

Re: DP 10.1 out
Could this FINALLY be the solution to the automation issues I've whined about for so long?
I'm still on DP9, so this alone would be my reason to upgrade to this new 10 version (insert a praying emmoticon here)
I don't now what exactly they mean by "interpolation"> but I'm hopeful!

MOTU wrote:Interpolate chased automation events when editing
• Added a preference in the Event Chasing window to interpolate automation events at edit boundaries, thereby preserving the surrounding automation curves. (This preference is enabled by default.)
• When enabled, copying track data selections will interpolate ramp-style automation events at the selection boundaries and include them when pasting, merging, splicing, or shifting the clipboard data.
• Additionally, DP will interpolate automation events at the paste/merge/splice/shift destination boundaries.
• This new preference improves on and replaces a similar feature that was previously enabled and disabled by
turning Smart Selections on and off.

this is the largest bug list fix I have ever seen from DP. It's 5 pages long!
