I'm not sure if I would use it or not, I always liked the fact that tracks can't hide in TO- I thought that was the point!
The thing is: With folders you may not have to hide anything. You can simply categorize and consolidate.

Yeah, as a composer I often end up with too many tracks to manage efficiently. Folders should help with this a lot. I hope.

Well I for one...

would rather not see MX4 and Mach5 included in DP, since I already paid for them seperately.

I will say this though, I owned a akai Z series sampler, specifically the Z8. I was so dissappointed with the quality of the instrument I sold it a year later after only using it on two songs. The built in effects were horrible, and the editor crashed consistently. Not to mention that Akai's technical support was probably the slowest I have ever seen. I bought Mach5 to replace the Z8 and I've never looked back since.

That's what everyone said when apple included all its previously paid for plugins in an upgrade. But in the long run, it has brought them many more customers, including myself. It would be smart of MOTU to include these instruments in a DP upgrade and also keep them compatible and for sale individually for other host sequencers.

Just remember that thes MOTU instruments require an iLok dongle.

Also the difference between MOTU's VIs and Logics is that MOTU's are available to every platform, AU, VST, RTAS, MASS, not just DP. Believe it or not ppl use M5 and MX4 outside of DP

My wish for DP5 is a more efficient, optimized program. More power for processing with plugz, audio editing etc.. The groovy bells and whistles are nice, but not the meat and potatoes (although I'm a veggie) of what I consider to be DP's greatest attributes.

i have no problem with USB dongles.

I use logics and Bias' Dongles every day for hours and i have had no problem with them EVER. Only annoyance is carrying around a USB expander for a laptop when traveling. Not to much of a hinderance to me.

I also think that MOTU should sell their instruments individualy as well for all other platforms. But included with DP at a significantly reduced cost. This could be an incentive to people to switch DAW platforms to DP.

It has been very smart of MOTU to write their intruments for all platforms on windows and mac. It will make DP's innevitable jump to Windows an easier transition.

I'm hoping I won't be required to upgrade to Tiger for DP5, since my system's stable at 10.3.9. But from the features already listed in DP5, I'd probably have to try it...

I was told that it's just a few lightweight things, like a mono bass synth, a drum machine, etc........
But I don't know.

Well, I don't know how much I can add to this discussion - but yes - when I read the title of the thread I wet my pants a little....

I kinda hope they include MX4 in the new bundle - that would be ace.
Also, an optimised version of MSIs reverb would be good.

Folders? There's some very happy people around here now, including myself.

I think it will be a paid upgrade - £100 for existing 4.5 users I expect, and what is all this venom with iloks? I have no problem with them.

My predictions:

New VI's
Cut down version of MX4.
Cut down version of M5 (who would want to buy M5V2 otherwise?)
Synths to be sounds from the Ultrafocus products (UVI have just slashed all prices..funny eh?)
All synths to use the UVI engine :-)

New 'verb plugin, with masterworks branding.
New dynamics plugin with vintage PSP style guages.

Tiger only. Bit of a curve ball there...
Macbook, Leopard 10.5.1, Logic 8.01, MOTU Traveler.

Most likely because it introduces another possible point of failure in systems, and it doesn't stop the crackers and pirates from doing their thing.

Anyway, the initial post on this thread said that there are multiple new vi's in DP5. I can't wait to see more details because it sounds like it'll be a smokin upgrade.

I thought the UVI engine is simply a sample playback engine. not an actual synth waveform engine.

I echo this note... Would somebody ask about this?

I would love to be able to hook up another computer (i.e. powerbook, mac mini) for extra processing power.

I'll triple this note, because I have three other Mac's I'd love to use for this as well (MacMini,PowerBookG4 and soon to be MacBookPro).

As for the iLok, my only problem is people running different standards. I now have one that has MX4 & M5 in it, and another for Korg LC-D. I've had to buy another hub I've got so many things hooked up to my machine now.

iLok would blow, at least for us notebook users. Especially seeing
how Apple only includes one USB port on their new macbooks.
