DNS-over-HTTPS aka DoH

Post by mikehalloran »

For those who haven't heard. This should make the internet more secure.

Turns out, I'm one of those users for whom DoH was automatically enabled in Chrome. Pretty sure I know why but I'm not certain so I'll leave that alone other than to say that it's seamless other than a red Not Secure flag when accessing certain web sites like this one.

Hopefully Safari will gain the ability. I fear 'though that one will have to be on Catalina unless Apple does the "right thing" and allows us to install the update, whenever it might arrive, on older systems.

Thanks for the heads-up, Mike.

You're welcome.

Safari has traditionally been backwards compatible to a point so I'm a little more optimistic. From the article:

SAFARI
No reply. However, Safari devs are usually late to any feature-rollout party, and Apple has been recently investing in user privacy-focused features, so the chances are pretty high that DoH will come to Safari.
