2020 MOTU/NAMM Dinner!
Oh boy, here we go again!!!
I just wanted to let everyone know about the upcoming MOTU Users NAMM Dinner!
You do not have to be a NAMM attendee to go to the dinner, you can bring a friend, date, or anyone you would like.
This year it is Friday Jan.17, 2020, 6:00p, at The El Torito Restaurant (where else?) 2020 E. Ball Rd., Anaheim, CA 92806. We have a private room at El Torito from 6:00p until closing, so don't worry about being "on Time". For those who were at ’That Dinner’ several years ago, I have been promised by the manager that we have an iron clad guarantee on the room.
For those attending the NAMM show, we meet at the MOTU booth around 5:45p friday afternoon so that anyone who needs a ride to the dinner can get one. Anyone who doesn't know who I am can just walk up to the handsome guy in a suit standing around the MOTU booth and say "Hi Jim!" That will probably be the debonaire Jim Cooper, and he can point you towards me, the other Jim.
This will be our 23rd!!! annual dinner, we started when the application came on floppy disks (remember those?)! Each year they get bigger and better! There may be swag this year, not sure yet.
This is our chance to show & tell the hard working MOTU guys & gals how much we appreciate all their hard work over the past year.
As usual, this is a "no host" affair. What this means: we each pay our own way, plus a little extra to cover our honored guests, the MOTU guys. As it turns out, their Cambridge dollars are no good out here on the left coast. Often we get a guest appearance from some plugin developers as well.
There is a change in the dinner arrangement this year, dictated by the restaurant. They no longer allow large parties to order off the menu, it’s too difficult for the kitchen to manage. We will now have an all you can eat Taco Bar experience. There will be grilled steak, grilled chicken, Mexican Ceasar salad, cheese enchiladas, refried beans, rice, lettuce, cheese, salsa, chips, soft drinks, and flan. All this for $30/person, and that covers the MOTU folks! Of course, we always order numerous pitchers of MARGARITAS, so that will add to the bottom line.
Here's the W,W,W,W,W:
Who: You + the uber-cool MOTU guys
What: Dinner, Cocktails, Dancing With The Stars audition opportunity (OK, that’s not true)!
When: Friday, Jan. 17, 2020 6:00pm
Where: El Torito Restaurant, 2020 East Ball Road, Anaheim, CA 92806 (714) 956.4880
Why: Why? Because we like you!
Please respond to this message privately (or not) as an RSVP. It's always good to get a head count for the restaurant.
Hope to see you there!

That’s also a BMI distribution date so maybe I can afford it this year. The temptation is great and it would be a good opportunity to derail any serious discussions. Lol

Re: 2020 MOTU/NAMM Dinner!
I haven't made the effort to attend NAMM in a few years, but when I do I always attend this event. Thanks for keeping up the tradition Jim. One of these years I'll make it back!
