Stutter edit not seeing audio tracks

Post by Julia123 »

Is there any reason my MIDI stutter track doesn't offer/see audio tracks that have stutter edit inserted in it's output list? It offers/sees the VI tracks with stutter inserted, but not regular audio tracks. I just tested it in Ableton to compare and it is working fine in there.

@J123, you're always succinct and adept at describing your scenarios, but I don't understand this one. A MIDI track is a MIDI track, and an Audio track is an Audio track. How exactly do you wish for them to interact? Often it depends on the plugs involved and how they publish their inputs and outputs. Anyone?

I should have detailed that better:-). With Stutter Edit you insert is as a plug-in on the track you want to effect, and then set the output of a MIDI track to that tracks stutter input. I think with DP I am supposed to do something different but I can't figure it out.

This reminds me of inserting the MW Gate on an audio track and assigning MIDI notes to the MW Gate's key source. To make this work, the output of the MIDI track is assinged to the MW Gate.

Maybe this will suggest the routing you need for the Stutter Edit plug-in. I see that it's a realtime manipulator so maybe it's setup differently.

That is really cool! I have either never used that with MIDI, or I did and forgot (that happens a lot---). Yes I would think Stutter should act similar. The MW shows up in the output list fine, but no Stutter.

From isotope

If no go, I'd reach out to iZotope for assistance.

Thanks. I found (and fixed) the problem!

In my list of plug-in's there are two of everything, which includes two listed as 'Stutter Edit'. In addition to this, there are two more listed as: 'Izotope Stutter Edit'. This is the one that is not showing up. When I replaced that insert with one labeled 'Stutter Edit' it showed right up.

Any recommendations on how to clean up this mess? I am seeing a number of Izotope files on my hard drive but not sure where the actual app's that DP uses are located.

Good to hear you sorted this out.

On a mono track, there's generally two of each plug-in of the same name: mono, and mono to stereo. Horizontally expand the plug-in insert window to view these descriptions.

Now that you know which one works, ignore the one named Izotope Stutter Edit (IZE). But if you really don't want to see IZE, you can add a user category folder for the ones that do work.

Thanks! I see that now, very good to know. It's not such a mess as I was thinking.
