Hello - I am trying to open a project that I worked on approximately 11 years ago, not sure what version of DP ... I got one file to open but most of the other 30 or so come up with this message: "An error occurred while reading from the disk. Te file/Volumes ...> was not loaded." "Unreadable data was encountered while reading the file."
I also tried loading the file into a new project using the "Load" feature ... same message. One file worked flawlessly ... why can't I get the others to load? This is an external hard drive dedicated to playback and recording. It is a 4TB drive with 1.6TB still available. So, plenty of room. I've never had an issue like this before ... not sure what to do ...

Many recent threads. The solution depends on the exact cause which can change depending on the file.
Start by checking the remote drive. In Get Info, Ignore ownership on this volume should be checked. If not, do so.

Just wondering - these files are Sound Designer II files - could that have anything to do with it?

Re: Trouble opening older DP files ...
Thanks but this did not help. I am dealing with hundreds of files (not exaggerating). All of the audio was SDII. I have cues (from a film) 5 of them will open, no problem, then the next 10 come up with that message. I cannot figure out a way around it ... The were all saved within the same couple of weeks. I tried converting all the files to AIF but that was no help. The files I do get to open I immediately convert to AIF and the save as DP10. Very, very strange ...mikehalloran wrote:Many recent threads. The solution depends on the exact cause which can change depending on the file.
