DP10 memory cycles on its own radnomly

Post by Henry Robinett »

Here's another in my increasing problems with DP10. I pulled up a fairly old file. I'm remixing two CDs I never released. Now's the time! Originally recorded on Adats. I've mixed them on earlier versions of DP. Now for some reason it rewinds to the beginning all on its own at random times. I have it on memory cycle. The cycle is 5:44, but randomly it will rewind after 30 seconds or a minute or 45 seconds. Has anyone seen this?

I'm on Mojave 10.14.6, MacPro 5,1. DP10. 32 ram, on a SSD PCIe boot. Audio is from another SSD internal.

I will reboot DP then Mac is need be. Just weird.
All the best,

File>Load into a new empty project is worth a try.

Thanks. That's probably it. I loaded that chunk to a new sequence to solve another problem. MAYBE that was it. Fingers crossed.

I hope that was it, but if not:

Is it cycling at the same point every time? I wonder if there is something imbedded in the sequence that is telling DP to loop back?

A few things I'd check:

1) THE COMMANDS WINDOW to see is there is some command set to enable a loop. I don't use loops (ever) so I'm not familiar with how they work.

2) I also check the EVENT LIST and filter out notes and controllers so you can see only the stuff that might be in the tracks that could be causing that.

3) Could a loop be set in a soundbite that is causing this to happen? Again, I don't get loopy (except when drunk) so I don't know how to discuss that more intelligently.

Clearly, you seem to know how the memory cycle works, so it's probably not that a button is highlighted to cycle...

Yeah, I haven't experienced this today. The cycles were all a different places. I THINK it has to do with opening these old DP Projects, most going back to 2001. I think there are some weird glitchy, corruptions going on. I was just having a crash on launch thing. I loaded the chunk from a new sequence and I was able to open and finish that track. Now I've off to a new one, but I opened it. I should PROBABLY do it the same way - open a new sequence and load the chunk. We'll see!

Thanks!
