Thanks for the links!

The security patches install firmware updates. These sometimes give people grief on older Macs when run from Software Update.

Downloading from these links and running the installers has not given me any problems.

If you ever want it, probably a good time to download it. Old OS X versions are sometimes difficult to find once the next version is released.

Having just (finally) moved from Sierra, bypassing High Sierra (except during the install process), and going directly to Mojave 10.14.5, I have noticed a big improvement in DP's UI performance on my 4k display. Not sure whether it is due to better GPU driver software (for my AMD RX 560) or the fact I no longer need to use an active Display Port to HDMI converter. Regardless, I am happy with this dramatic positive change.

I mention this Tonio on the off-chance you might want to give Mojave a whirl (running from a clone for safety's sake). 14.5 included the last firmware update for Mac Pro 5,1s. I haven't seen any suggestion 14.6 provides another.

Got Mojave on a test partition. Appears I needed to update the firmware.
For some reason the firware update pop up message to restart button didn't work- I freaked  in a moment of panic LOL. So I just pressed the power button, than pushed it again/ and held till the power light flashed and made a tone. Phew...

Used the update combo - no issues, and been playing around- and I must say
it feels snappier :D

Although the 1st BTD was no pretty- DP was asking to connect to the mic?

Then commenced to crash - MOTU audio driver quit. Reloaded, and all is good .

hmmmm.. more testing to do, but I think I will be updating the main SO drive real soon.

OH, forgot to mention , the boot screen actually comes up quicker than w/ High Sierra. Must be the firmware, but it restarts to any other partion/disk
a lot quicker also.

Many audio functions in Mojave do not work if you don’t let apps connect to the mic. It doesn’t seem to matter if the app actually uses the mic or not.

Been using 10.14.5 as my daily driver for a little while now with continuing solid results.

I have noticed that if the Mac sleeps (rarely, but on occasion, I get a break) and I lose my 4k main display. Easy to fix: open System Preferences>Displays and toggle screen mirroring on and off; that said, one of the reported bugs squashed in 14.6 sounds like it may relate to this issue.

Anybody have any issue going from 14.5 to 14.6?

This looks like some sort of lost robot code. The request happens for setups that don’t t even have a mic.

Yep. It sure does. It’s done on purpose and Apple considers it a security feature.

Tons of articles, both informational and armchair experts getting it wrong. This one gets the solution right without too much guessing.

Its just a generic message that means audio inputs in general. I dont know why they chose to have it say microphone specifically it is kinda misleading (what do you mean I cant use my line inputs??). Says the same thing whether its the built in audio (no mics on the Mac Pro) or my 828MK2..

Its really nice when a dev leaves that check out of their app too. Akai left it out of the last couple of releases of the MPC Software heh. People like me that bought it this year, when 2.5 was the latest, had to dig around (or have it emailed by support) for 2.3, install that first and open the app to tell it ok, then reinstall 2.5. After all the trouble of figuring out why you couldn't sample anything. Thank god the newest one that just came out fixed it!

LOL, I thought the same thing - kinda wacky . Apparently I didn't get this w/ DSP-Q or iTunes

HC - I installed - 10.14.3 to 10.14.6 so can't comment on 10.14.5 to 10.14.6
& don't have a 4k display
