My studio iMac just blew up so until I figure out a replacement I need to work for a while on my MacBook Pro (Late 2013 2.3 ghz i7 16gb ram)
But first, I need to buy a new monitor and am considering buying an LG 38WK95C - 38inch curved screen 3840x1600 resolution.
I'm not looking to do anything beyond working in DP and Logic neither of which, as I understand it, are particularly graphic intensive.
I understand that I will need to get a Thunderbolt 2 to USBC converter to connect to the LG but will my MacBook graphics be sufficient to drive such a display at that resolution?
(System info says the onboard graphics are NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB - Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB)
Many thanks for any advice...

Re: MacBook Pro - external monitor question
It’s not a Thunderbolt monitor so you don’t need a TB cable.

MDP uses the TB port on a Mac except those with USB-C connectors. All you need is a Mini Display Port (MDP) to Display Port 1.2 (DP) cable, $8–16 on Amazon. Adapters can be problematic. This will be fine.

Your MBP has an HDMI port but a 2013 may not support the full resolution of that monitor. You can try that first using the included HDMI cable and the get the MDP–DP cable if the resolution is not adequate.

Re: MacBook Pro - external monitor question
Really helpful advice, much appreciated Mike.
If I understand you correctly, the MDP-DP cable you mention should do the trick and give me the proper resolution.
Thanks again!
