Issue with DP10 and Izotope RX integration
Hi everyone,
Apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere, but I couldn't find any info.
I'm having an issue with DP 10/RX 7 where once I 'overwrite original file' having repaired a clip in RX and return to DP, the file is replaced with full loudness white noise... quite intense when working with headphones! And as the the original file has been overwritten, there's no way to get back to it.
Has anyone experienced this, or can advise if I'm missing something, settings or otherwise?
Thanks,
Tim

Re: Issue with DP10 and Izotope RX integration
There are a number of ways to use RX with DP. 1) as a plugin b) as an external editor c) as a stand alone app. What to do and when depends...
When in doubt, use the stand alone app, save the repaired file as a copy, drop that into DP and mute the original file.
If that doesn’t do it, the issue is your audio file or the way you are using RX.
If it does, the issue can be a number of things.

Re: Issue with DP10 and Izotope RX integration
Hi Mike,
Thanks for the reply! I’m referring primarily to using RX as DP’s external editor in a mastering context. From a workflow perspective it’s how I’ve had success using it as the primary editor in other DAWs.
I’m hoping that someone has found success with this workflow as it seems fairly fundamental that you should be able to overwrite a file in its original place on the timeline in DP after repairing/altering in RX?

Yes but I'm not having that issue.thedeadsea wrote:Hi Mike,

You need to figure out the source of the problem. Once again: use the stand alone app, save the repaired file as a copy, drop that into DP and mute the original file.
Does the same thing happen again or not?

Re: Issue with DP10 and Izotope RX integration
Also, I'd be curious if the files RX is creating play normally in the Finder, or are they only corrupted in DP.

Re: Issue with DP10 and Izotope RX integration
Hi both - to clarify, the saved/overwritten files from RX playback absolutely fine from the finder window, it's just within DP that they become white noise.
If I attempt to either reload or replace the file in DP, there's no improvement.
The only solve is to delete the soundbite from the project and import/drag in from finder again.

Re: Issue with DP10 and Izotope RX integration
I am on 9.52 and have the same problem. The problem began for me when moving fro Rx6 to Rx7.
Re: Issue with DP10 and Izotope RX integration
I've always seen that behavior.
overwrite
make sure the DP session is closed
trash the original analysis file
reopen the session
That's been my workflow for a long time.
The other option is to work from a copy, and then drag that in, but that will forget any record preroll offsets and you'll have to manually adjust against the original.

Won't happen that way, because it's a new analysis file. Overwriting original appears like the easy path, but the analysis file conflicts and does not (98% of the time) self-correct without closing the session.mikehalloran wrote:use the stand alone app, save the repaired file as a copy, drop that into DP and mute the original file.

Re: Issue with DP10 and Izotope RX integration
Just to update - after submitting a TechLink to MOTU, their response was that in their testing it works fine with RX6, but they're going to attempt some testing with RX7.
But interesting to hear that others have the same experience - not exactly a smooth workflow to have to quit/relaunch every time!

For me it's happened in RX5/6/7, but then I'm on DP8.07.

I'm having the same problem with RX6 and DP10, thanks for the tips.
