Multiple layers of markers
I use markers for scoring placement - 'hit this exciting moment' etc. But I want another layer of markers (or just labels I can see during playback) for section labels, or chords or similar, without losing my original scoring placement data.
How are people accomplishing this?

Re: Multiple layers of markers
No way to do layers that I'm aware of.
I use a prefix in the marker name, then use the search field in the markers window to look at only the ones I want to see.
For instance, anything I want to adjust/fix will be prefixed with "TODO:...", so I can just search for that and quickly jump to each spot. That can get as granular as you want. You could have sections start with "S-..." or mix-specific notes start with "MX...". You get the idea.
Low-tech, I suppose, but infinitely flexible.

Re: Multiple layers of markers
I was curious if Markers were "stored" in the conductor track, and whether using a 2nd Take in the Conductor would permit multiple sets of Markers, but such was not the case.
It would be cool if there was a MARKER TRACK, and that multiple takes or even multiple tracks could be created to show/hide various markers for different purposes.

Re: Multiple layers of markers
I have, in the past, inserted notes on an unassigned MIDI instrument track as a rudimentary Marker track. Primitive, but it can work in some situations and can, of course, have multiple takes.

Or use silent Sound Bites in a track folder at minimum height. You can name the tracks or the soundbites as you might a marker, or colour code them. Far from ideal but works sometimes to give quick visual clues.dix wrote:I have, in the past, inserted notes on an unassigned MIDI instrument track as a rudimentary Marker track. While we're at it, I'd like to be able to edit the length of a marker as well as layer them.

Re: Multiple layers of markers
I would love to have that!
I use markers for streamers when conducting, but can't use them to locate because there are a ton of streamers, and I wouldn't be able to find locate points among them.
I would absolutely get so much use out of being able to locate via markers.
I envy people who use Protools and can have something like this;

Re: Multiple layers of markers
I also wish you could have names in the soundbites as they appear, like the name of the track / instrument.
And the ProTools example shows the conductor track with tempos, and the markers tracks with names.
Bot of those would be immensely helpful.

Re: Multiple layers of markers
If you're talking about more than one marker (as text or whatever) at a certain spot in the score, make markers using the same location in the markers window. It will 'stack' them one after the other so all are in view.

Re: Multiple layers of markers
It's more I use markers/streamers for conducting and cues, but there are ton of those in a score, and once you are mixing, and would like to use markers for locate-points, you can't really do that because you end up with a zillion markers between the streamers and the locate-points.

Re: Multiple layers of markers
Yes please .... Marker Takes.... in the Conductor Track... or in another track as stubbsonic suggests.... whichever.... Marker Takes....like audio or MIDI Takes.... same behaviour ...New, Duplicate, Rename etc..... pleasemesayre wrote:stubbsonic » Wed May 15, 2019 12:04 am

dix and Bayswaters' workaround ideas are cool ....thank you ...use a MIDI track unassigned or a silent audio soundbite as Markers that 'Take'
But proper Marker Takes is a big please here
Thanks a lot
