In a stunning set of events over the weekend, the MOTU.com site was hacked! The hacker(s) gained access to the highly protected DP 11 work in progress, code named "Ludwig's Ear Horn" by MOTU. The fully functional version, which is apparently 100% bug free, is available for download at this link.
Among it's many new features are color coded regional selections, chunk folders, nonexistent MIDI latency, and a fully functioning and robust notation program that is surely going to eliminate the Finale program, as well as Sibelius and Dorico.
A statement from the MOTU press office indicates that while the hacked version is fully functional, it will not be supported by MOTU, and that it only scratches the surface on what's to come in the official release. They added that, unfortunately, because of the hacked release the cost of updates to DP will increase to $999 ($1,499 for new purchasers), however, it will come on an 8TB SSD preloaded and installed on a new Mac Pro with a 50" hi-res plasma screen.
MOTU and Apple are working closely with all plugin developers to make sure that every conceivable plugin imaginable is included in the package, thereby saving MOTU customers hundreds, if not thousands of dollars in the process.
A screenshot of the leaked software is included below. I have personally tested it and it pretty amazing. Unfortunately, once it runs, no other program will run on my Mac Pro. I hope MOTU addresses this in the commercial release, expected by this date in 2020.
