How do I search a phrase on this forum without getting results on the words singly?

Advanced Search can find pages with two words but I’ve never been able to find phrases.

I get better results doing a Google search when I’m looking for something specific. These pages show up, too.

Try making the search term all one word with wild cards for the spaces. Instead of searching for "search for" search for "search*for". It sort of works; the terms you search for don't get highlighted in the results, and other stuff might show up.

What works best for me, and is VERY HANDY, is to create a little script, so you just click on it and Google makes a search of MOTUNation ONLY.

You can also achieve the same thing by typing in Google:
site:www.motunation.com "xxxxYour search terms hereXXX"

So simply substitute your search terms for what is in quotes in italics above. Google searches work MUCH BETTER than this site's (and similar) searching capabilities.

That applies to any other sites as well.

Tascam DM-24, MOTU Track 16, all Spectrasonics' stuff,
Vienna Instruments SUPER PACKAGE, Waves Mercury, slaved iMac and Mac Minis running VEP 7, etc.

Glad you guys liked it.

Just to be clear, the quotation marks I put above are obviously not part of the search term unless otherwise intended for a particular exact phrase.

A more "high-tech" approach to do the same thing is to create a Safari tab in Favourites, name it, and add the script below to its Address field.
This way, you invoke a shiny pop-up search window via a shortcut, or just click on the created tab to get it, and do searches normally very quickly right from there (providing you're already in the target site):

javascript:Qr=prompt('Search%20Site%20for','');if(Qr)location.href='http://www.google.com/search?&q=site:'+ ... escape(Qr)

Even a basic Google site-specific search like that (i.e., with quotation marks or the -unwanted_word or +required_word) will yield much more useful results than using this site's function.

Fernando, you mentioned this trick a few years ago, and I've been using it ever since. It's one of the handiest tips I've ever gotten from anyone and just wanted to thank you, once again. :koolaid:
