Can't get ControllerMate to work, any users here?

I've had ControllerMate for a while, and recently wanted to set up a process to carry out a series of keypresses-- for a repetitive text editing thing. But I'm missing something. When I try to run it, nothing happens.

I have the right version installed for my Mac OS (10.11.6).

I did enable CM and the helper app in Security & Privacy/Privacy/Accessibility

I think I programmed it correctly.

Also, I contacted the developer 8 days ago and didn't hear back. The forum link is broken-- just keeps routing back to the support page.

Anyone want to help walk me through this?

BTW, I did try setting this up in Automator, but it kept missing keystrokes, and I couldn't figure out how to set it up to run the keypress sequence while I'm in text edit.
