DP9 and 10 don,t play together well here

Hey guys, weirdness with 10.The screen starts to flash and then it goes back to login on the computer. I login and DP is there and it does it again when I do something on the file. What of DP9 should I trash so I do not have this conflict, thanks

Is this happening as you launch DP, then open a project? Does it happen only on projects that were started in DP 9 but opened now in 10? Or does it also happen on new projects that were created in DP10? The more detail you can include, the faster/better your help will be around here.

This may be a Preferences issue, you could try trashing your DP preferences. (You may want to save a copy in case that's not the issue.) The above link has directions on how to disable Preferences.

As a general rule, try rebooting with plug-ins disabled. This is from MOTU's website, the Tech Note Project Glitches and Preference Removal:

Specific Digital Performer project or projects exhibit(s) unusual visual/performance glitches or consistent crashes.

If a specific Digital Performer is exhibiting graphical issues or crashing in a consistent manner, try launching the project in Safe Mode. Click the DP icon/.dpdoc file as if to launch normally, and immediately hold the Alt/Option key when you see the DP splash screen. In the Plug-In Set Selection window that appears, select “Safe”. This will launch DP with only MOTU plug-ins enabled. If the project launches and operates correctly in Safe Mode, suspect a third-party plug-in issue.

If the issues also occur in Safe Mode, it is possible that the project file or one of its components is corrupted.

You don't mention which version of the OS you're using. I'm on Sierra (10.12.6) with DP 9 and DP 10 and I'm not experiencing anything like that. Except for on reendow crash (always happens after an install) it's pretty smooth.

High Sierra seems to be implicated at times from what I gather on this forum. I might just be projecting that... lol

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. I am on Sierra 10.12.6. It did happen when I open a DP9 Project. But I then Save as, it did it a couple more times then seems to work after that. There is some conflict. I will look at your suggestions. Weird, its not a crash as such but the screen flashes and then sends me back to "Log In". I log in and DP 10 is there. I am going recreate it and mark down everything that happens. It happens so fast, thanks again

I am doing what MagicD suggests and creating a new User Profile and installing DP 9.5.2 on that. I want to keep 9 as far away from 10 as I can. I thru out prefs where 10 resides and all is better at this time. Great help here at Motunation !
