DP 10 and Link Playback To Memory

Post by leigh »

If I have Link Playback To Memory and Link Selection To Memory enabled in DP 9.52 and play an audio track, clicking in the track with the i-beam cursor causes playback to jump to the clicked location. With them enabled in DP 10, this doesn't work: clicking causes the little blue arrow to show the clicked spot but playback doesn't jump to that spot.

Is there some preference that's changed?

Just because that's how these things go, it's working here.

the only caveat is the Link Selection to Memory setting makes it stop playing like punch out after it get beyond the up arrow... What would be nice is if auto rewind would start playing automatically like Link Playback does when link selection was used

Here is what's happening, first in DP9.52 and then in DP10. I couldn't figure out now to embed non-youtube videos.

DP9.52: https://minormodemusic.com/misc/DP9%20Playback.mov

DP10: https://minormodemusic.com/misc/DP10%20Playback.mov

Brendan at MOTU has been working with me on this.

From Brendan:
Leigh,

Sorry for the delay. I see what you're doing now. Confirmed behavior in DP 10 is different. We'll look into. I'l let you know if there's any additional insight, or when there's a fix.

Thanks,
Brendan

Of course what I'm getting is completely different. With your same settings the arrows are a consolidated up/down red arrow, but if I have Auto Record selected as well I get the blue arrow. In both cases the selection works like 9, but for now play with the Auto Record enabled and see if that helps.

Basically I think it's obvious DP10 is not playing nice with DP9 installed. It's a distinct advantage that Live has in that respect, they keep preferences and the like separate, so it's possible to have older versions around that aren't in conflict with the new one.

I don't think it's a question of DP9 and D10 playing nice with each other. I see the same DP10 behavior on my studio iMac which also has DP9.52 installed as I do on my MacBook Air which has only DP10 installed.

Brendan's latest: "I've logged this with our developers and I'll get back to you with an update when it's given to me."

Ahh but in my system it's a different issue altogether, that is more likely due to DP9 and 10 not playing nice together. I haven't gotten around to installing it on my laptop, but I would bet the issue addresses itself differently, at least in my case.
