When saving during playback, makes loud sound!
This is a new one for me. If I save a DP file while nothing is playing ... just fine. If I save during Playback, I get a loud zitz .... It happens every time while playing back and never while at rest. And one more thing - it only happens when my recorded tracks are playing back. If I have MIDI alone playing, no zitz ... when I turn the live instruments back on ... zitz ... very strange.
New things ...
I have new speakers, KS Digital ADM 20s.
My visual monitors have been moved a little bit, they are a tad closer to the speakers.
Nothing else. Somehow the save function is triggering something that is obviously getting into the audio chain. I'm stumped. Any ideas?
Thanks.

I'd guess that it's a conflict of some sort with your hard drive not being able to playback and keep up with the save. Just a guess. I save while playing and even recording w/o a peep.

No - I don't think so. I've been using Performer for over 25 years - never had this issue before. Have millions of hard drives - plenty of room and recording speed. This is a brand new thing ... my guess is some sort of shielding ... but I cannot figure it out ...

Re: When saving during playback, makes loud sound!
I find the noise happens when there are edited tracks that have not been consolidated. Once they have been merged and unused soundbites deleted, save while playing is much smoother.

Re: When saving during playback, makes loud sound!
This is a very small file. I had one live vocal and one live piano track. There were a few MIDI tracks and some bounced MIDI tracks ... relative to what I end up with - an extremely small file. I have tons of memory and hard drive space. Like I said, there have been some changes in my studio . For instance, this is the first time I'm running these speakers. I've also moved my visual monitors a little close into the speakers. Plus, when I turn off that piano file in Playback, there is no sound, when I turned it back on, the sound returned. I guess I can try to consolidate this one piano track ... strange if this would be the case as it has never happened before. Weird.

No loud noises here, but saving while playing back sometimes (not always) glitches audio for me under 9.52.

There are old threads on this but I don't recall anything conclusive.HCMarkus wrote:... saving while playing back sometimes (not always) glitches audio for me under 9.52.
I save before I play or after but never during. Old habit, I suppose but I never understood the need.

Insecurity? lol I do it all the time. Just in case. In a particularly good take I'll save during recording. Never been a problem and what has been recorded (before the end of the recording) is saved as well.mikehalloran wrote:There are old threads on this but I don't recall anything conclusive.HCMarkus wrote:... saving while playing back sometimes (not always) glitches audio for me under 9.52.

Re: When saving during playback, makes loud sound!
I save consistently - whenever I remember to do so - even in the middle of a take. I've had a couple of moments when the program quit and I lost something magical. Hence the routine ... Still unsure as to what this might be ...

Re: When saving during playback, makes loud sound!
Count me among the folks who want to be able to save during playback.
It is an important feature for me.
Since 9.5, there is an audio glitch when I save while playing.
Never happened before that.
Nervous clients ask, "What was that? I heard a dropout."
I reply, "No problem, it's just a bug in the software."
I'm hoping DP10 fixes it.

Re: When saving during playback, makes loud sound!
It doesn't bother me much, but yeah it started at 9.5 for me too. Never was an issue in years past. I get sputters/distortion/dropouts for 3 or 4 seconds.waterstrum wrote:Count me among the folks who want to be able to save during playback.
