"DP Not Optimized"?
I've started getting the message telling you that an app is "not optimized for your Mac" when starting DP. It started after applying the newest Mojave security update dealing with the Facetime fiasco. I thought this was something to with 32 bit apps which will not be supported sometime in the near future, but AFAICT DP on the Mac is 64 bit only.
Incidentally, I got the same message on BBEdit. Support at Bare Bones said they haven't figured out what triggers it and Apple's not saying.

Could it be a plugin?

Re: "DP Not Optimized"?
If so I'd assume this would be a 32 bit plugin. Not likely; this is a new installation on a new Mac. I've been installing everything directly rather than migrating from an old Mac and I've left all the old plugins behind. I wasn't using any 32 bit plugins in the old Mac anyway. Also, this message just started after the recent security update, and all the plugins have been there for about 3 weeks.mikehalloran wrote:Could it be a plugin?
Maybe Apple and MOTU are in cahoots to get me on DP 10.

Re: "DP Not Optimized"?
I just read on this about Mojave and third party software lemme see if I can find the article...
Nevermind, the answer is simple. So Mojave is prepping us for the complete removal of 32 bit apps.
DP can open as a 32 bit app, Get Info reveals an "open in 32 bit mode" for DP 9.5.2
Logic X, and other OSX Apps only work in 64 bit mode. Probably most apps that can work in 32 bit mode are going to get this warning. My copy of Excel from Office 2011 is 32 bit only and gives this warning every time I open it.
You can ignore it, but take it that Mojave is the last Mac OS to support 32 bit apps or even apps that can open in 32 bit....

Apple has announced that its upcoming macOS Mojave release for Macs will officially be the last to support 32-bit apps. The company made the announcement after unveiling macOS Mojave at WWDC earlier this week, sharing the news on 32-bit apps with developers following the keynote event. June 5, 2018

Re: "DP Not Optimized"?
I thought about that. So I did the Get Info on DP, and the box for 32 bit mode is not there. I thought as first that 9.52 is only 64 bit, but it makes sense that it will open in 32 bit, but that option has been removed in Mojave, or at least in the most recent update. That clears it up, so thanks for that.Michael Canavan wrote:I just read on this about Mojave and third party software lemme see if I can find the article...

Now, are you saying that because DP 9.52 can open in 32 bit mode it will not run at all in OS 10.15? That sux. Even when I get DP 10, I'll probably want to keep a copy of V9, probably 9.02 available. I wonder if we'll be able to strip out the 32 bit stuff like we were able to strip out the PowerPC stuff when Apple went to Intel.

Re: "DP Not Optimized"?
That makes sense. I forgot the desktop here is running High Sierra , I need a new video card to get Mojave on it. The laptop with Mojave shows the same version of DP without the "Open in 32 Bit Mode" like you saw.bayswater wrote:I thought about that. Yeah, there's a real possibility that DP 9.52 won't run on 10.5. Apple is the slash and burn king, that is one point in some ways in Windows favor, but when OSX works in my experience it's much more transparent than Windows... trade offs right?

Re: "DP Not Optimized"?
There are reports on other forums that 64 bit applications have been popping this message in the latest build of Mojave. It's an information flag only but it appears that something is triggering it that shouldn't.
No doubt, Apple will address this. Till then, it can safely be ignored.
