Block specific MIDI device

Post by eoinrussell »

Is there a way to block a specific MIDI device? I've tried to do this in Bundles but it didn't seem to be the feature I need. I want to block a specific MIDI controller from DP but still be able to use that device with other apps. I want this globally, all the time and I don't want to have to fuss around with multirecord, I want all my other MIDI controllers working together. Is there a feature for this?

This might work:

I'm curious why multirecord is not an option. I can't imagine using DP without multirecord, myself, but I understand we all have different workflows.

Thanks for this. MIDI Pipe doesn't seem to block the device from DP so I end up with two CC values getting recorded instead of just a remapped CC. I've tried every setting I believe.

I'm happy to use multirecord when I want to use one controller for one channel. But I have several controllers and I want them all active on a single channel. Foot pedals, faders, leap motion, etc. I don't want to pick and choose for every track.

Aha! Ok, a quirky workaround. I made a Console that captures the device's offending CC and dumps it nowhere - blocking it. Then using MAX or MIDI Pipe I reassigned the original CC to the new value I want. So DP never sees the unwanted CC#'s value. Great. Thanks for the help.
