Of course, I'm sure it's operator error but I cannot suss this out. I'm using DP9.5.2 on a Mac, using external hardware only (no softsynths).
When I create a new MIDI track it comes up with no patch # in either the default patch or plain patch columns (this is good). When I point that MID track to any of a number of external devices, both of those columns stay blank (this is what I want as I prefer to enter PCs manually in the seq editor). But I have one single device/destination, a NORD electro rack on a single MIDI channel - that when I point a new MIDI track to that one particular synth, the patch column automatically enters patch 123, and I can find no way to disable that (make it so that there is no patch entered in either patch column in the tracks window).
Any help much appreciated - Scott

Re: Patch change inserted with no choice?
Have you tried "clear default patch" in the Track Overview preferences?

Clearing it won't solve the problem; it'll reapper.
Sloiselle, on the Nord:
System Settings->MIDI Transmit->Patch Change (switch to "off" or "disabled").
This is the generic hierarchy found in most synth operating systems; the path to the parameter and nomenclature may be different in your case.
