Processor overload on new MBP

I just purchased a new MBP - 15 inch, 2.2 6 core i7 with 16 gb RAM and a 512 internal drive.

I bought it to use in my studio as well as for live gigs . . . I'll be using it for track playback and virtual instruments . . . (Omnisphere, Kontakt, Lounge Lizard, Ivory, etc . . .)

Anyway, I have just started loading software. So far I have installed DP 9.52, Valhalla Room, and AAS Lounge Lizard.

I am getting bizarre behavior already . . . just playing the EP patch alone is giving me overload warnings, and I am occasionally getting severe latency - even at settings of 64 or 128.

What am I missing???
