I believe this is a good update. Now, if MOTU would just add articulation and MPE support by its release date, then, it would be an amazing update. :D

I’m listening to David Das show VCA fader (including MIDI Tracks), scale all DP tracks, absolute grid. Everything listed in the PR is in DP10.

Awesome news! I was getting a bit worried seeing warnings that the current version DP would no longer be compatible with the next MacOS update!

Pretty devastated at the lack of MPE support. I've been sort of holding out hope. I'm too entrenched with DP to switch now, but otherwise I probably would start shopping.

No MusicXML import. Damn. Many other DAWs have it for years including Logic and the App that Shall Not Be Named.

The press release mentioned export so I’m pretty sure it means no import.

Not a deal breaker — I’ll update, no doubt but the I’m disappointed.

Looks great, wish they included enhancements to exporting audio (especially the ability to edit metadata), but everything new looks useful.

This took me by surprise, as the NAMM schedule for the MOTU booth did NOT look like a product rollout!

I've only had time to skim the overview, but can see some potential everyday productivity improvements, as well as hopefulness that the new time-stretching support is top-grade.

The scalable UI is a big deal to me too.... I've been having more trouble reading the fonts and #'s as I get older.

I'm looking forward to see what they have done with the waveform editor as well :)

The clips feature sounds intriguing to me..... I've used clippings in a lot of projects and wonder if the clips window will be a step up from that.

Thank you very much MOTU! I will be upgrading for sure! :)

What is MPE? Multi-Point Editing? (Not even sure what that would mean)

MIDI Polyphonic Expression only arrived in the mainstream in the last year or so. Though it’s growing fast now, very few people have MPE controllers at this point. I’da been a little surprised if they had it in this update. MOTU doesn’t have the resources of other DAW companies. As such they move more, shall we say, deliberately.

MIDI Polyphonic Expression. It’s the new MIDI protocol subset used by Roli, Haken, Linn, and other multi-touch MIDI controllers. It was a jointly developed standard that was officially adopted into the MIDI 1.0 standard last year, and recently added as a subset of MIDI2.0.

It can be achieved by DP and any MIDI host, however not without some headache. To truly be MPE-friendly, you have to create a MIDI Track type that can record and keep track of all 16 MIDI channels in a device at once. MPE uses all 16 MIDI channels at the same time, one per each note of 16-note polyphony.

Currently, in DP you have to create 16 independent MIDI channels, and assign them to channels 1-16 on the MPE device and softsynth. Both Logic and Cubase adopted MPE early on, and can have multi-channel MIDI tracks.

I love this update, I like using clips in ableton but I don't like ableton that much, clips in DP is great to me.

but I am curious about the motu instruments soundbanks listed here...

http://motu.com/products/software/dp/

I'm just wondering what instrument these play in because there are no new VI's listed in the update and I don't thing that these types of multi sampled instruments will play in Model 12 or Nano Sampler.

is there anyone at NAMM who can ask about this directly?
