DIGITAL PERFORMER AND VST PLUGINS, GPO, NI KONTAKT

Could somebody please help me, i am considering crossing the pond and throwing away my PC (that has given me nothing but heartache) and converting over to a PowerMac g5 dual- also i am going to start using digital performer 4.52 but i need to know, does it work with all VST plug-ins or do you need a VST wrapper????
also, iv heard that it doesnt like NI KONTAKT players which Garritan Personal Orchestra (GPO) is controlled by....so will the two work together????
also i heard that you could get an AU version of garritan, what is this AU format?!?!?! please help!

You need Audioease VST Wrapper to use VST plug-ins in Digital Performer. I am noticing most everybody but Steinberg shipping other formats (AU, etc) that DP supports natively however.

AU = Audio Units. Another plug in format. There are lots around, and most vendors ship an AU version of thier plug ins. Natively supported in DP.

DP works just fine with GPO, either as a plugin or with DP's interapplication MIDI function using GPO as a standalone. The GPO install has the AU plugin as an option already, so you won't have to do anything except install and update as usual.

2 different responses, confusing, but i guess that i will have to wait and see what happens, im sure that it will work in the end and i dont mind buying a vst wrapper because gpo saved me a few bob anyway! thanks for the help guys!

Those responses weren't contradictory at all. Put simply: if a plugin is ONLY VST then you need the wrapper, if it has an AU version, you're fine. And as for Kontakt and GPO, they have AU versions, so you're fine.

oh OK, that makes things ALOT clearer, thanks, so i guess it will work fine! sorry to sound dumb but im sort of new to the dp and mac game, just wanted to be safe rather than sorry (you know, after shelling out 1.5K on a mac!)

I have GPO, the B4, JABB Stormdrum, EWQLSO and hakf a dozen other NI VSTis, and they all wprk fine with DP 4.5-4.6 as AUs.
