El Capitan Clock Issue or CPU issue?

Post by buzzsmith »

ImageClock Issue by Buzzy Smith, on Flickr

Hi, all!

I recently, and incrementally, updated my OSX to 10.11.6 and all seems well except for some projects that are pretty loaded with VIs and plugins.

I will occasionally see the above "clock message".

At the same time, the Audio Performance meter's little processing overload "light" will "blink".

I've learned that if I wait about 2 minutes the project is active again.

If I hit the space bar for playback or the play button on the transport I will see something like this...

Notice the counter and bar numbers top left.

If I quit (or force quit) and open another, perhaps simpler, project everything is good.

Or if I disable a few hungry VIs or plugins that seems to also work. Again, it might take a few minutes for the issue to somehow resolve itself.

Any clues?

I went to El Capitan as it cost me nothing as I didn't have to pay for any Sierra compatible updates with the VIs, apps, etc.

Thanks!

I assume you’ve updated all motu drivers?

Are there appegiators or other clock reliant plugs that might be requesting a clock and their preference is set to something other than your default for DP?

Yes, to the drivers as of 2 weeks ago, and no (to my knowledge) of any other clock requesters.

Thanks, MLC.
