Just saw your post. I am working on updating my master Template Project, which has Multi Bounce for every track. You can check in the manual under “Multi Bounce”, but while must of the steps are explained, the instructions are incomplete as there are definitely quirks here. Things can get confusing. I’ll share some of my findings. I am open to suggestions myself!
Essentially, you can save each track bounce to Bounce Again and have the bounce settings stored in Multi Bounce. One has to make sure to check off the “Save settings for Bounce Again” box in the Bounce to Disk window and give the setting a name. Then, within the Multi Bounce window, you can select which tracks you want to bounce again and bounce them into separate tracks or stems in one pass.
Multi Bounce, as far as I know, is region based. For instance, if you have a three-minute piece and try to use a Multi Bounce that has been set to 2 minutes, you will lose a minute of your piece in the bounce. My film cues are rarely over five minutes, so my template has 6-minute Multi Bounce Again settings. The only down side with this is one has to delete any remaining blank audio space at the end of each track or stem that resulted from the Multi Bounce.
One can also import the Bounce Again settings from another project, and they will appear in the Multi Bounce window. However, I could not get it to work. The imported Bounce Again settings are attached to the project from which it was imported. Attempts to use them opens up the previous project for the bounce, which is useless and annoying. Apparently, the Bounce Again settings are tied to the Chunk. I have found no way around this. If someone has found a way to import bounce again settings to a project and have them apply to the new project, I am all ears. So far, I can’t figure it out.
So, as I use a master template project (as opposed to a template), I open the template project, rename the sequence and save the template as my new project. I’ll have all the Bounce Again settings apply to the new project.
There are still issues: If I create a Duplicate Track Layout, the Bounce Again settings will bounce the audio to the original chunk, not the duplicate. The same thing happens if you duplicate the chunk. So basically one can’t use multiple sequence chunks with Multi Bounce; at least I can’t figure it out. If I plan to use Multi Bounce, I save changes in a new project so the bounces settings will apply.
Frankly, I don’t think Multi Bounce is worth the time. Logic will do it automatically, but DP requires a lot of fiddling. If I need stems, I can just bounce each group separately. Or if I record in real time, I’ll just port tracks to various audio stems. It might be useful if one always bounce each track separately, but I rarely do this.
