I saw and download it but didn't read the info. It's about time.

Re: MainStage 3.4 & Logic Pro X 10.4.2
I started another thread but deleted it, as this seems a good place to ask.
If I was to use a 64GB SD card in the SD slot on my RMBP, would that be sufficiently fast to run MainStage? (or Logic Pro?)
I'm running out of room and the ability to offload some of that to an SD card would be helpful.
I know it isn't very fast, but I wondered if it would be fast enough. FWIW, my RMBP has 16 GB of RAM.

I don't see why not. I haven't really had a chance to work with this new version yet, except to try the Library Manager. When you first run the LM, it does a check of all available and usable disks. Other than that, I have no idea how the disk performance affects play, say, like disk streaming vs. RAM like Kontakt is concerned.stubbsonic wrote: If I was to use a 64GB SD card in the SD slot on my RMBP, would that be sufficiently fast to run MainStage? Agreed. Basic streaming of VIs and audio is a low intensity task. You should have no problem.cuttime wrote:I don't see why not. Thanks. I found out the update is 10.12 and up, so I'll have to wait until I either go to High Sierra or Mojave. But that might be soon. I'll need to run some tests and see what dies with Mojave.

Symbolic Links could always be used to move libraries to other drives, so this is convenient, but not critical.
But there are a load of other new things here that are pretty interesting. Flipping faders and pan to control sends, something that has been requested here a few times, along with commands effecting the way channel and send settings are related. New tools to set and manage tempo maps flex time imrpovements, additions to articulation, and scoring and included VIs continue to develop.
If you're on Groove3, you can see Eli's one hour overview of the highlights.
Lots of stuff I hope MOTU notices and has been thinking about.

This is the best article I know on Symbolic Links. It mentions a couple tricks with Terminal that most such articles don't mention.

Tried the Studio Strings and horns. Very nice, but nothing to write home about.
