Playback skipping to next chunk?
Wow. This is really a weird one. I have maybe 30 chunks in my session. I'll be playing along in a chunk and suddenly it will switch to the next chunk for no apparent reason. I'm not touching anything, it's just playing. It is not consistent, other than always going to the next chunk. (If I'm playing the last chunk, it will skip to the first.) It will skip from the same spot two or three or maybe four times, then it won't and will play along fine until, at some later point, it does it again. And then it might not do it again for a few days.
What in the Sam Hill could this be? It's very frustrating and I can't find any pattern or apparent cause.

Re: Playback skipping to next chunk?
I should add that neither the Cue Chunks or Chain Chunks buttons are highlighted, and the chunk is in playing in the middle of the chunk, not to the end.

There are a few things to look at: From page 737 of the DP 9 manual:
You can activate the MIDI Monitor (shift-W is the default) to see if any of you controllers are sending information to trigger the playback. If the info is being send "randomly" then triggering sequences for playback will be random. I assume you aren't touching anything on your controllers to make that happen.
Other than that, I'd suggest starting a new project and importing all your content to see if it continues. What it sounds like, however, is what the manual describes (above).
If there is a value in the S# and DP is somehow receiving that value from some source (see the manual for details) then the sequences will jump to the designated chunk.S# (Song Select Number): Displays the song select number that will play-enable the chunk when received from a MIDI controller. Song select numbers range from 0-127. If a chunk has no song
number assigned, the column displays a single dash (-). V-Racks do not have a song select number
because they do not have disk tracks that play back in the conventional sense.

Re: Playback skipping to next chunk?
Chunks can be triggered by MIDI notes and these triggers are listed in DPs Commands window. If you are playing along on a MIDI keyboard you can inadvertently play the trigger note and find yourself in a different chunk. You can delete MIDI triggers in the Commands window and toggle auto assignment of triggers in preferences I believe.

I'd be willing to bet that note is F#2.frankf wrote:Chunks can be triggered by MIDI notes and these triggers are listed in DPs Commands window. Yeah, I got bitten by F#2 in the middle of a recording session once. Luckily we were breaking for lunch and I called MOTU (and got through first try). They fixed me up. F#2 was not being recorded at all because it was assigned (by default) to do something else. Can't remember what though.
I think I posted here about it, but the search function doesn't like F#2. Sorry.

It’s MOTU’s way of saying F#2 you! Kind of like the cmd-f Easter egg. Wait! Where’d all my data go?
