Plugin Instrument Edit Windows Not Opening in DP9 - RESOLVED

Post by lampfilmusic »

In a DP9 sequence, I've two instances of Mach5 v3 and one VST plugin instrument.

All was working well until now, when I double click the 'instrument' track, no window opens to allow me to edit that instrument.

I've been on to MOTU who suggested checking the instrument output settings (all OK); and trying to access from the insert setting of the Mixing board (same problem).

If I try to instantiate another instrument, it instantiates, but double-clicking its name does not open its edit window.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions as to what I might do?

(Other DP9 project file open and work fine.) :-|

The project file could be corrupt. You can try opening a new project, and import the misbehaving sequence into it using the Load command.

Thanks bayswater, you were right. :D

I solved this by:

1. Opening a new DP9 project.
2. Instantiating instrument tracks again from afresh.
3. Loading the old sequence from the seemingly corrupted file into the new DP9 project.
4. re-making every track name in the new Sequence. :|
5. Copying each and every MIDI and audio track into the new sequence that has the working instruments instantiated into it.
6. Deleting the old sequence.

This worked.

Good you have it solved, but too bad you had to do all that.

Glad it worked for you. Surprised you needed to do all that. Usually just Loading the corrupted chunk into a new empty sequence has worked for me without having to recreate each track. I've also made sure that the empty sequence is clear of any pre-existing Bundles (busses/inputs/outputs) as those are also imported upon Load.

Re: Plugin Instrument Edit Windows Not Opening - BACK AGAIN

Update:

Since repairing the supposedly corrupted file, I now find the same problem occurring in the rescued file.

Not sure if I'm prepared to go through the rescue manoeuvres all over again, if it's going to mean the same problem recurring.

The only other thing that I can think of: now and then, the audio interface driver will stop being seen by DP, and if that happens, there would be no output available, taking you back to the original suggestion from MOTU. If that's not it, it may be quickest to go back to MOTU tech support and send them the project and your update.
