30% off d-16 software

Post by Basstrup »

I believe this runs for the rest of the week. 30% off d-16 Group software.
I am personally a big fan of Punchbox. It's way that I can layer three different sounds to sculpt a kick (including using my own or 3rd party samples) makes this a slam dunk in my world.
Analog is great... We got both WOW and Flutter - what's your bias?

Waves Gold Bundle for $129 today (6/21) only

Post by James Steele »

RSPE is selling Gold Bundle for $129 on 6/21 only. It may be a good way to get foot in the door if WUP expired and put v10 plugs on your system. They can coexist with v 9.

Ahhh... cool! I checked it out and found I already had it installed although the plug was from 2015 so i checked to see if it had been updated since but it still appears to be the same 2015 installer, so if you already got this, save yourself time and don't worry about updating. :)

TC Electronic VSS3 Native $139 until July 1, 1PM GMT

Post by James Steele »

I remember hearing some years ago that this was the bomb-diggity in reverb plugs, but it might be eclipsed by now. I know they have a 14-day demo so I may give it a shot, but FYI it's 30% off at TC's site. Perhaps less at other online retailers... haven't checked yet. Deal expires July 2 at 1PM GMT.

EastWest Spaces II Reverb Upgrade 1-week Sale Ends Soon

Post by mhschmieder »

UPDATE: Someone on GS says that EastWest extended the upgrade deadline to a week, from the original 48-hour window (barely even enough time to find out about the update's existence, much less be in a location for logging in and purchasing). I have not been able to confirm, but edited the title.

Sorry I didn't get a chance to post this earlier; the new Spaces II Reverb plug-in from East/West was released practically by stealth a day or two ago, with a tiny 48 hour window for the "upgrade special" of $149 from Spaces I.

I waited until there was sufficient feedback from early adopters over at vi-control before plumping down my hard-earned change today. I just finished installing it, so don't have personal testimony to share yet.

There are a bunch of new IR's added, and the plug-in itself was overhauled significantly. People are complaining about the company's attitude, the short window, and the price, but the bottom line is that the feedback so far is that this beats MIR and Altiverb for many symphonic and soundtrack needs.

It was finally clarified that the main difference from other convolution reverbs is that the mics were fired strictly at the ceiling. Some have said this is due to EastWest's sample libraries already having pre-delay baked-in, but the marketing spiel is that you can't effectively remove "bad" pre-delay.

Anyway, given the extremely short window of opportunity here, I wanted to accelerate this posting and come back for details later on.

For new buyers, there's less of a rush due to how often EastWest has sales, but my recollection is that upgrades rarely if ever are part of those sales. Maybe because they want people on Composer Cloud?

Oh, as a caveat, there have been issues with Spaces II crashing projects in other DAW's, but no mention of issues with DP (perhaps no users; guess I'll be the first to verify!).

Don't forget, this product requires an iLok license, but I don't think the dongle is necessary as the installer gave me a choice. I always go with the dongle though, as I've had less trouble after OS upgrades.

There was another important point I thought of while writing this, but it slipped my mind due to how many other things I needed to get down in writing. I'll come back and edit the post later if I remember what it was. I don't think it was a deciding point factor though.

I like L'otary - other than the name :-)
Depends on if you have any use for it.
For me and organ sims, the rotary is usually the weak point, so it gives some other options.
Don't know about the other one.

I bought both the first time they went on sale but have never used B-Scanner (Hammond internal pitch vibrato circuit).

Interesting this topic came up today. Just this morning, I was listening to some classic Stepenwolf tracks on my drive to Santa Rosa (6 hr round trip) and was admiring the late Goldy McJohn’s use of both effects. You can clearly hear the wide vibrato as the horn sweeps slowly on the slow setting and it sounds wild when the rotor goes fast. I then remembered that I have B-Scanner and thought I should try it.
