monitoring with DP - new Pro Audio Control mixer

Post by stylemonster »

Hi - simple question, hopefully. I'm upgrading to the latest version of dp and the new Pro Audio Control mixer app that runs on an 828es. Previously had been using queMix on an 896, so trying to set up the 828 now, and its different. (ish). So previously I could directly assign a mix bus in dp to the 896 main outs, and queMix could also send there, so there must be some summing going on behind the scenes. So q: is it proper now to create a pair of 'from computer xxyy' channels in the mixer, and monitor dp through the mixer, always? Not an issue really, i.e. you could still run dp without opening up the mixer, as long as you didn't want to fiddle with anything (levels). The mixer app will not let you assign the its mix main outs and anything else simultaneously to the main outs of the 828 anyway, this must be what's intended?

and ... (thread creep). ... anybody know if a new iPhone control app is imminent for DP? my old one stopped working, really really miss that.
thx, Bruce

That's how I have approached things in my studio, and it it working well. Use Computer 1&2 Out routed to the mixer, and you get all your computer audio, including DP if Bundles are set up properly. Make sure system alerts are reduced in volume if routed to the 828 to avoid disturbingly loud alerts.

Also, on my rig, a pair of mixer Outputs feed Computer 1&2 In, labeled "Main In" bundles in DP, making it simple to route the mix to a stereo track for monitoring/printing simultaneously. This is also handy for capturing in DP any audio playing in realtime from the Mac itself.
