Nothing yet. I also sent an email to tech support. We'll see what happens.

Did you go through the support page and ask for a call? I've never had Apple take more than 15 minutes to get back to me.

I must have missed that. I asked them to email me. But I'll go back and see if I can do the call.

I just called 800-275-2273. Looks like the entire call took a grand total of 10 mins when I had them walk me through restoring my OS.

I also got Apple on the phone yesterday.

Turned out really simple. Here's what they had me do as best as I can recall.

1. Restart while holding down command and R.
2. When apple log appears, let go. You get a screen with a few options.
3. Open the Disk Utility option
4. Erase the main drive. (Not sure if it was after this step or the next one, but you get a drop down box after erasing that let's you pick the HFS formatting for your drive. That's what I wanted, since I'm going back to El Capitan.)
5. Quit disk utility
6. Open "Restore from Time Machine."
7. Then you get a list of dates you can restore from.

5 hours later, Voila!

Good.

That was the first way I suggested. Everything else was only if that didn’t work. Because of APFS, I didn’t know it would.
A straight restore may work — I’ve never tried it over APFS. Command r into the Repair partition and follow the normal procedures. If you get the error that you can’t restore to an older OS...
