Custom Console

Post by eoinrussell »

I'm struggling with Custom Consoles. I have a MIDI fader box. I want to remap its faders from fixed values to the values I want. For example, fader 1 sends CC64 and I want it to send CC1. I can easily remap this to a specific device or MIDI track, but I just want it to do this generically, for all tracks. I use a large template and this would require making hundreds of Custom Console sliders to map each one to its own track.

Is there a way to do this?

I believe you can accomplish this with the "Reassign Continuous Data" plug in the MIDI channel strip. You can save the conversion values as a preset.

Yes, good suggestion. But then I need to do that for ever track and I have hundreds in the template.

Well, using a dummy patch in my MIDI interface (channel 8 in and out connected to each other) I can get it to work by assigning that 'dummy' device to be the recipient. Fairly inelegant but it works.

I used to use a utility called Midipipe that did that stuff. An outside-DP approach.
