Question about looping in DP

Post by chlorinedream »

Hello - I'm interested in trying some loop-based remixes of old recorded songs. Is it possible in DP to loop a certain section of a song (including multiple tracks) and have that loop record to a new track?

Thanks!

There are a few different ways to loop within DP.

You can select a region of just one track and loop it. You can record the output of that track (including the loop) to another track if you like. You can select a region and paste-repeat it as many times as you want. Lots of methods, depending on your goal.

I like to use DP's Repeat function, as it is then a simple thing to remove the looped audio (for a beat, a bar, or segment of any length) at any point in the track.

Once you have a track the way you like it, you can record to another track or simply Merge the whole track into one continuous file.

Can you explain this process a bit more?

Here's what I am trying to do.

There's a 4-bar section of a song (with a total of 3 tracks) that I'd like to repeat 8x. I've tried bouncing just that section and copying and pasting it, but it doesn't sound smooth. Is there a way to record 8 passes of that 4 bar section to another track?

Select the region you want to repeat across all of the tracks

Pull up the Region Menu “Repeat” command and set for 7 repeats using splice.

Once you ok, the tracks will be extended to include the selected part playing 8 Times.

With all repeats selected, edit beginning and ends points of repeated section on each track to make junctions as smooth as possible. Cross fade as required, Merge if you wish to consolidate into continuous audio
