And the MIDI editor... If velocities appearing a little bellow the notes is not a problem.

I want to use the MIDI editor. and I want the velocities to show not below the notes, but around the notes like in this video.

Then use the Sequence Editor, like Bayswater suggested.
You can make your tracks show almost as big and to look like if they were on the MIDI editor with the SE.

You said "like the video". It shows the Sequence editor.

Is there a shortcut to max the view of the selected MIDI track in sequence view?
Is there a shortcut to show all MIDI controller in lanes underneath?
If not, we still need to edit the MIDI velocity in MIDI editor, as seq view is not enough for editing MIDI controllers.

In the sequence editor, hold down the 'Z' key and drag over the desired MIDI track to zoom to the size of the entire Sequence Editor.

Don't believe so and would be a great addition. You can lasso zoom to the MIDI track or grab bottom of track on the left to increase size.

There is a key command available for "Show All Lanes With Data". You can look it up in the Commands window. Mine is set to 'Shift +'

I edit MIDI all the time in the SE w/o any problem.

It's the Sequence Editor, you can see two piano rolls of different sizes in that frame.
FYI, you can stop youtube at 2:47 right click and one of the options is "copy video url at current time" this makes it easy as it gets for people to help you when you want to show them something on youtube! 8)

What I do to use the Sequence Editor for editing etc. is to use the Tracks window as the selection tool for the Sequence Editor with them both in the Consolidated Window. With the SE expanded vertically to fit one track in it's frame, double clicking on the Tracks window calls up that track to the SE full frame. I guess in that way it's a similar approach to how Logic and Live both have subwindows, but without the downsides to the way they approach it.

Sure there is! You will love it...

Simply draw a rectangle over the length and over the tracks you want to zoom into by using the zoom tool, which you get by pressing and holding letter "z" (or double tap it so it sticks). Bam! Instant zoom that will fill the screen with your drawn rectangle.

To zoom back to the previous level, simply press command-]

With command-] and command - [, you can navigate through your zoom history bakcwards and forwards, BTW.

You can also "zoom to your selection" horizontally by using option-command-s.

Ahhh..but is there a key command for SE track size?

For instance, if editing within a track and you want the track larger or smaller, you could hit something akin to 'tilda' for smaller and '1' for larger (these are available on my system w/o conflict). Super quick without having to change your cursor or mouse around anywhere. I prefer not to mouse around if I can avoid it.

I haven't checked whether such a command exists in the Shortcuts window. Look for it there.

Otherwise, a QuicKeys macro could handle this beautifully.
Or, write to MOTU and beg them to include shortcuts for SE vertical track size :unicorn:

While not exactly what you want, try these to see if you find them useful if you haven't used them (they are certainly useful to me):

- If you option-drag a track to change its size, it will be as big as you set it, and the rest of the shown tracks will shrink as necessary to still be viewable on the screen.

- Substitute Control for Option, and all shown tracks will become the same size.

I'm writing this from memory, so I hope I got the commands right.

...or Keyboard Maestro. It really is a much more useful app than Quickeys was. If QK ever got updated, I'd jump on it, but it does appear dead int he water for several years now.

Thanks for the tips, I did check the Commands list and was surprised not to see track resize there -
guess I'll send another request to MOTU. I really should look into a Macro program, its just that DP has most of the bases covered, so it hasn't been a pressing issue.

Hmmm interesting tips (you got em reversed, but close enough!). Not sure if that's something I would use, but good to know!
