It's been quite a while since I've posted here. I searched this topic but didn't find anything (sorry if I missed it). I've had my "main" system parked about three OS's back from High Sierra running DP 9.5.1, Vienna Ensemble Pro 6.0.1, Waves and with the exception of DP choking if I save while it's playing. it's been fine and stable. I installed DP on my 2016 MBP which came with High Sierra and it has been fine with Kontakt and others. VEP seemed fine on it's own. I brought a session home and discovered that it's crashing regardless of which VEP i try (MAS, VST, AU). I searched and there's a long thread dating back to August about this. I've posted there, emailed Motu Tech support and heard nothing thus far. Vienna has gone to the extent of also making a MAS version so they clearly support DP but i'm puzzled why Motu has not released a fix for this issue (and the choking while saving in introduced in 9.51 despite it being "known" for months). have people rolled back to Sierra after using a high sierra system for a couple of months with any luck? there is a fairly ridiculous work around posted on the VE forum which I've done twice (the whole thing stops working if you quit dP). thanks in advance - Neil

A fellow user has posted the following workaround, which MOTU recommended for UAD plug-ins on the MOTUnation forum. It also worked for the VE Pro 6 plug-ins here on our systems!
Workaround fix for VE Pro 6 plug-ins in DP 9.51 on macOS High Sierra:
1.) Run the latest Vienna Ensemble Pro 6 (OS X) installer from https://www.vsl.co.at/en/MyVSL/software_installers. Restart the computer.
2.) Open the Applications folder and drag the Digital Performer application to the trash. If you have multiple versions of DP, be sure to drag all versions to the trash.
3.) Hold the Option Key while clicking on the Finder's "GO" drop-down menu, select Library, then open the Preferences folder. Find the com.motu.MotuAudioSystem folder and drag it to the trash. Empty the trash.
4.) Download the DP 9.51 installer available at motu.com/downloads and run the installer.
5.) Find the VST folder (System HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/) and rename the folder to anything other than “VST” (for example, “VST_temp”).
Your Audio Unit and MAS VE Pro 6 plug-ins will now be available in Digital Performer 9.51. Please be aware though, that your VST plug-ins will of course NOT be available after renaming the VST folder!
I hope that helps until MOTU and our developers can find a real solution!
Best, Marnix

you might be a candidate for unchecking MAS VST Support in the plug ins preferences window. Disables all VST support, but see if VEP works after that in Sierra or HS.

This allows you to use the VEP plugin to connect to the server if you don't need Event Input. VEP Event Input plugins won't work because they seem not to send note-offs to the server.mrgkeys wrote:you might be a candidate for unchecking MAS VST Support in the plug ins preferences window. This worked for a while, and now crashing again.

Re: DP 9.5.1 VE Pro 6.0.16xxxx and High Sierra grrr
Just to be clear, I have had this same issue now for many weeks. Fortunately I don't have any very large template projects right now that require use of my 2nd computer for hosting (VEPro connected), but if I did I'd really be in a bind. I have unchecked the "Enable VST" in the audio plug ins preferences, and for a while it worked. The other approach outlined above, of deleting DP etc. did not work for me. But I will try that again, and then uncheck VST. But it is very disappointing that MOTU tech support hasn't not addressed this. Given guidance, or updates of any kind to help us.
And thanks for starting this thread.
